Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All these young players being given a go like Matamua, Tupou, Pole with perhaps Tumeth and Boyling to come must fill you with some excitement? I get a buzz from watching them play lower grades and progress through to represent the WTs.
We're currently last in NRL and second last in NSW Cup. You must get excited easily.

I guess your excitement comes from Madge being axed, which I still find odd considering we haven't looked close to winning since he left.

The thing with gildart
He just xame to the wrong nrl team at the wrong time lol

Best case he should of spent at least half a year in cup before transitioning into the first team

He does have potential

Good luck to him

He wouldn't have been any use at any club as far as i can see.Pamfers wouldn't even have him in reggies as he would be taking up a better players opportunity.
What clubs do you honestly believe would take him? especially since he played some reggies on the UK also

I believe that he could of developed well at a another club, e.g. Storm

We took a shot and missed...I mean Newcastle did it with Dom young....that bloke was very raw when he first started , now look at him...one of the best wingers in the comp

Young is a much younger player so he could be easier moulded into a first grade player,Gildart is older and has always had the same deficiences in his game.He could not be coached out of his poor defence in the UK and it would be next to impossible to do so in the NRL with it's far higher skill level.
I honestly wish him well but i doubt he would be a success at any NRL club,he needs to go back to ESL

He's just not up to it. We have a weak top 30 and he's probably about 6th or 7th choice centre was dropped from NSW Cup level. I'm sure if he was at Penrith he could slot in at centre and his deficiencies wouldn't stand out as much, but that's more a reflection on the team than the player.

Nice guy as he is, he has to be up there with one of the worst people we've signed in recent memory, and that's saying something.

I read somewhere last year that Gildart would need easing into the NRL. I believe it mentioned he was a project.

We played him in the centres for what, the first 6 or 7 games, then dropped him never to play first grade again.

Maybe he should’ve played KOE cup for the first 6 or 7 games? Bennett will probably turn him into a top NRL player.

Bulldogs sacked their coach a few weeks ago after only 34 matches in charge. Their previous coach didn't make it through his third season in charge. They have won 10 matches in the past 2.5 seasons, including finishing 15th and wooden spoon last year. Tigers won more matches in 2021 alone (8) than Bulldogs managed in 61 rounds of football (from 2020 until Rd 13 2022).

As bad as 2022 is for Tigers, arguably rock-bottom, Bulldogs are only ahead of us by virtue of one extra win, against us.

Now if these are indicators that the Bulldogs have turned the corner and have a strong foundation, I cannot see it. I'd still like to know who their long-term halves and fullback will be, plus who is going to provide the platform in the forwards. I'd like to know who their head coach is going to be. I suppose we'll find out over the next few seasons.

Personally I think anyone who believes Bulldogs are on the up, right at this moment, are being clouded by 2 recent wins against ordinary opposition (Parra and Tigers). I heard the same comments in 2021 when they signed Burton and JAC, and its got them nowhere in 2022.

By the way, when Sharks sacked Morris they had just completed a run of 6th, Premiers, 5th, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th (currently 4th). In the same period Bulldogs went 5th, 7th, 11th, 12th, 11th, 15th, 16th (currently 14th). If you can somehow equate those trajectories in your head, well, I cannot see that either.

You may be proven right.
And yet it seems Ciraldo would rather go there

Easily our worst signing, a JT special, played 3 games in 2 years, for a grand total of about 50 minutes on the field across those 3 games
And cost us about $500,000 to pay Robbie to play elsewhere, plus the club fine and CEO suspension from the release 😂
