Would be worthwhile to spend the next two years under Sheens building up our pack. Look across the finalist teams and a lot of the outside backs are young, powerful and skillful. It’s not worth wasting money on backs until you have a forward pack that can handle the contest. Canberra have been able to compete in this competition since the 2nd season of Ricky taking charge (2015) because of the forward pack they built. Their bench of the following would all get starting positions in most sides.I think our pack is three recruits short of competing with the good packs, providing we recruit the right types. Api and Pappi are good starts but not enough. If we're hoping that Stef and Blore will step up, that's a huge gamble. You'd expect Pole to continue to develop but it's still not enough.
Looking at the final games so far, our pack is light years behind every other pack. We're not even in the same galaxy. Assuming we can't do both, focus on forwards for 2023 and hopefully add some good backs in 2024.
