Denial. Not just a river in Africa. Also shows that Brooks is actually a poor defender comparitively to Hastings. Seeing that his defence is the thing Brooks lovers' mention so often shows how deluded they are
Tries? Line breaks?Jacko isn't elite...
Still showed way more than Brooks this year, outplayed him in every aspect and even carried him throughout games.
Nobody thinks Brooks is a million dollar halfback .. stop smoking crack. 🤣Haha 😂
I watched Hastings do exactly the same thing every set . and half the nrl , but it’s definitely a brooks weakness .
What is leadership ? Yelling at your teammates ? Is it also not chasing down the line break from the opposite side of the field . Is it not crunching a rampaging back tower because your help defence is picking daisies inside ? Is it not chasing down other peoples breaks , and being there to support ? If it’s being a d and alienating your teammates on the reg . Then ok . Bear in mind the current Aus halfback / backup can’t win a chook raffle without his fullback . So his leadership sux as well I guess .
The cutout ball doesn’t work in 2022 . The looping ball over the top to an edge attack running onto it , seems to have the most effect .
The short ball is truely an issue . I’m not debating that . But I’d say it’s also one of the only attacking weapons we had last year as well .
But it doesn’t matter what I think . It only matters what the nrl as a collective think and they think he’s a 1 mil halfback .
But no wests tigers forum hive mind disagrees … let’s listen to them ….
Yep …. I have now learned to speed read.I was so excited to see 10 pages of content since lunch time! Made a tea and sat down ready to read..........is that the best we can do as a forum of West Tigers tragics?
With respect to Douiehi, I cant see him playing 6 if Sheens is happy to let Hastings walk. Hastings has a great footy brain but he can hardly run and his service is far too slow to compete with the strong teams.
I expect a few surprises in the line up come round one as Sheens isnt scared to give an up and comer with good speed and skill a chance, particularly if they have trained well.
I dont really care who we sign, as I have said before there arent many in the squad who can feel safe over the last couple of years and anyone with First Grade experience is an improvement.

How many games did we win while Brooks wore the 7?I don't think that's it.
I think some people are very upset with Luke Brooks and are thus upset that Tigers would consider letting Hastings go rather than Brooks. It's an anti-Brooks thing rather than a pro-Hastings thing.
Anyone who does think Hastings is a good halfback - well Brooks only had #7 on his back 7 times in 2022 and Hastings had it 11 times. So Hastings was our primary halfback the first year we ever won the wooden spoon. That's not to say Hastings can't be a good half in the future, it is to say we played him there and we were terrible.
Therefore the idea of someone suggesting that Newcastle are proving us to be amateurs - I find that laughable. The Knights who are allegedly desperate to get their mitts on either of the two preferred halfbacks of the wooden spooners (doesn't matter which one). Only Newcastle fans could possibly be happy with that, to pitch so low.
Personally I am not fussed if either Hastings or Brooks are let go. We came last in 2022 - it can only be a rebuild in 2023. If Sheens has his mind made up about certain players, so be it.
Personally I also believe Sheens sees Hastings as a ball-playing lock (this has been reported in the media enough) and I am guessing Hastings is not on board with that, that Hastings sees himself as a halfback. I think Hastings was swarmed too often in 2022 once oppositions realised how often he touched the footy in the halves, but Brooks still did most of the kicking, so it was all very predictable.
Bugger-all assists too: Hastings 7 try assists, 4 LB assists in 16 appearances. 0 tries, 10 goals. Brooks was 10 try assists, 12 LB assists, 2 tries, 13 goals in 17 appearances. So if Brooks is abject rubbish, Hastings' measurable output was arguably worse in 2022.
So I still think it's a long-term anti-Brooks thing.

2 years is not a long time
He can recapture that form under a new coach
if we are getting klemmer why would we need brown or woods? jfc. just because they are available does not mean we should take them.
our front row rotation will be klemmer, stef, pole, offa, twal. don't need two fat diabetic has-beens stinking up the joint.
invest that money in a good half back or good fullback or centres. let doueihi walk and put his money towards a 6 who can tackle.
Bateman is a tough forward from a tough town. He brings with him attacking qualities which he displayed with the Raiders and is also an international. He played state of origin 2 years ago
