Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If Laurie was to play in the halves he’d have to put on 5-7kg muscle minimum … I couldn’t imagine him making 20+ tackles a game in his current frame

No bigger than a 2 min noodle
papi and Bateman can be minders like all other teams have, second rowers who actually help the halves tackle when traffic is run at them, unlike what we have had for the last 4 years or so

Brown and Moses are both contracted for next year only - so it wouldn’t make 1 iota of difference for 24.
Matamua did nothing but get sent off
And Blore hasn’t played for 18 months…

Next
I’d wouldn’t be rushing to sign Brown. He could do a job for us in 2023 but with 3 spots left in the Top 30 … others priorities first.
From what has been reported Bateman will probably take spot 27. Spot 28 needs to be another spine option (hopefully a halfback). After those two spots are filled, a lot of teams leave the last spot open . Hoping to jag a good player after the trials.

A few years ago they advertise to get people to take in young players from out of town
A truly professional club would have in house accommodation for younger players and single out of towners. As someone suggested earlier building accommodation at the COE would have been brilliant. Is the eastern side of the ground being utilised at all?

Again a word of caution, Our recruitment has been great, congradulations to all involved . But remember Canterbury were a better side then us in 20021, and then bought some of the best players in the game, and finished 12th. this year. Most sides have added to their rosters, and will improve. Our halves as most on this forum argue about, are an unknown quantity, we do not khow as yet who will be the 5/8. We do not know who will be fullback. Our backline was ordinary at best , with Stains, and a train and trial 1/2 0r 9. as recruits in the backline. This is a LONG ROAD, and we have just begun the journey.
