Think it's out of necessity. The CoE is being shared, union doesn't pull in the crowds league does, so will give the council and any other stake holders /operators of the CoE the opportunities to iron out and issues that might arise from hosting events at the ground. I imagine whatever issues arise would be easier to deal with after 3000 people than after 10000. It's a good test. I just wonder if we went into lockdown again if the Tigers would just all live out of the CoE. And play at concord till things opened up again ?
The club seems to be very quiet about something which appears to be public knowledge.While it is good that there don't appear to be leaks from the heirachy, if the club seems to be prepared to make constant fluff pieces you would think that a statement from the football department would be made as to why our highest cost newcomer to the club is being delayed on visa issues.
For the record i still have large reservations about getting Bateman

Think it's over exaggerated click bate. When they say miss start of the seasons means trials which not for away. Possibly just the first one.

It’s all about timing of when the visa application was put through which sucks. Remember the visa isn’t just for Bateman. He & his family will get their visa’s approved & be here in the next month or 2.
Isn't his missus an Aussie. Wouldn't think she needs a visa if she is coming home.

We don't know if the Bateman family is considering immigrating to Australia. His wife is Australian and this contract may be his last and the family have their two children to consider as well. It's a big decision and I'm sure everyone is trying their best to get the family to Australia promptly.

We should never play a game there unless we were dumb and went by your short narrowed logic in adding another home ground for a game.
We don’t own the oval or have exclusive rights to it, never have.

You might be right. I would have thought it would be easy to get a visa if the mum is an Aussie. I really have no idea though.

I could be wrong, but would be surprised if there is an issue over it just being bad timing. Shutdown period due to festive break / holiday leave mixed with influx of working/school/china covid opening applications coming through.

I think Bateman has two children, one with his wife and another older daughter who would be a UK citizen.
He's better than any 2nd rower we have bar Papalii. All depends on the cost. 600-650k? I can live with it.

I think it's a good buy. We will never get "perfect buys", ok maybe we did this year but it should be super rare. We offer a good deal and someone offers a great deal at a better club.

Age wise. I am glad he has done a few years in Britain. It means fewer injuries.
Sheens hunted Bateman. It seems Bateman is the reason Hastings was punted.
On paper it seems a good signing. On the field we will get the answers. Till then who knows.
