Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We need the talent scouting the Storm have .Time and Time again they lose talent but find unknowns which are a cut above our hopefuls in cup etc
This year's examples Pezet and Warbrick

Players I think could boost our squad:

Blake Taaffe- probably as a 5/8. I see him similar in style to Luke Keary, and is behind players at Souths that will always restrict his ability to play First grade in Mitchell, Ilias & Walker.

Paul Momerovski- hear me out. He's defensively solid, makes few mistakes & comes through many good systems- Roosters, Panthers, Storm. He's 38th in the pecking order at the Roosters, but he instantly tidies up our defensive woes out wide. Not flashy. He's Shane Elford. It's Campbell Graham lite. Pushes either Talau if he doesn't recapture his potential or Naden who is a good attacker, but very average defender.

Mawene Hiroti- On the outside looking in at the Sharks. Very capable player in both attack & defence out wide.

Jayden Okunbor- Another on the outside looking in. Last year of his contract- a bigger winger to put opposite Taupo on the other side.
Some good points but I actually don't think any of these players improve our squad, bar Taafe maybe. For too long we have replaced average players with average players. Priority has to be aiming for the best young players not playing first grade and/or an established senior player in a key spine position. Otherwise we are just wasting our time.

Great post. 😁

Lol @ 38th in the pecking order! When you mentioned Elford I thought "that's it!". He is very Shane Elford. In saying though, I would prefer any young centre at the club. I actually still hold hope for To'a. I think he could be really good.

Blake Taafe - big yes.

Okunbor - I think he is a bit of a flash in the pan. Still, he should be cheap, so why not? They don't seem to have many tall wingers.

Don’t know if they are always a cut above talent wise as some of our young guys, just think they are given the chance and guidance to thrive more in a good/successful culture.

Storm have great scouts but are different because they have absolute gun players in key positions and a strong coach and system. This is what allows them to help unknowns become established first graders.

It’s so sad that we are in this ‘desperate’ situation 4 rounds into the season. If it was long term injuries that caused this desperation you could excuse it, but we had a WHOLE off season to sort this out! Instead we put all our eggs in one basket trying to lure (Moses) and hinged all our hopes on a decade proven average player coming good (Brooks). This is so unprofessional, it’s embarrassing!

We’ve done the same thing with goal kickers over the years also, never seem to be able to find a consistent one, despite numerous player purchases and off seasons. It has cost us so many matches, as has the spine problem. We enter every new season hampered because of the club’s seeming inability to address the bleeding obvious!
Tim spent the half of last season and the entire preseason creating this fiasco

I find it extremely ironic and completely Wests Tigers like that we let go of the only organising halfback we have had in 10 years (Hastings) because apparently he is too slow and then trust placed in Brooks. For us then to enquire about Mitchell Pearce who is older and slower than Hastings and probably more expensive.

Pearce isn't slower than Hastings, but your point is strong

These guys are hardly unknown. Pezet has been a standout in the junior rep systems, Warbrick is an Olympian. The difference isn't identifying the talent. It is convincing top tier talent to sign with the club.

I like how the Storm do it compared to Roosters who simply get uncle Nick Politis to attract the hottest properties eg Brandon " the cheese " Smith . I think the SE Qld feeder teams are also a great source for the Storm . I think we should raid some of these Qld cup guys also

Tigers should make a play for Manly's Kaeo Weekes.

Kid has speed.

Can cover most backline positions.

Seen glimpses of him during todays game and what I've seen is impressive.

Comes on scores a try - good effort.
Sorry Keao Weekes just did the dumbest play I've seen in a while a blatant strip on the last tackle !!!!
