Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Welsby and Williams simply must be our priority signings.
Pay what it takes, including transfer fees and chase them both hard.
And start today.

Also not worried about what the English clubs say regarding releasing players. They’re never going to come out and say, sure, take who you want.
They’re just building up their transfer fee and playing it smart. Money talks, always.

Lewis Dodd would be another alternative to Williams.

Enough is enough. Need to move now.
Money talks to players who aren't all that fussed about winning. But if you are ... say ... Jack Welsby, who was won at every level he has competed at (U16, Academy, Academy Rep vs Australia, St. Helens, England etc.) what's the hook? If Bennett picks up the phone (which he certainly will given his tight relationship with Jack's ex-coach) and talks about the roster he's putting together - that's a hook. But I've seen nothing from the Tigers which suggests they are capable of anything more than a big contract. And I doubt they can outbid the Dolphins anyway. Tier A players don't want to join reclamation projects.

Sheens sacked 14 Madge players and has since moved on Ken, and probably Daine and Noff. He knows it’s a weak squad. The big question now is can he overcome the fact that the club stinks in the eyes of elite players? A clean out in head office and some real footy IQ alongside Sheens would help.
We have bugger all kids coming through and noone wants to come. Kent is right there is a bad smell about the joint, we need to ask players who refuse to come, why. Then address those things. We just cannot seem to attract elite talent, even an over the hill 35 year old Mitchell Pearce said no. We have massive problems.
Even if Sheens can fix things, he only has 1 more season then the squad is being handed over to someone who hasn't ever coached before.

With no disrespect to yourself we have assembled an excellent forward pack, our problem is the halves steering and directing the ship terribly.
Our 1, 6, and 7 are our problem. They create absolutely nothing for us.
Our forwards have got us into excellent attacking positions in all 5 games, on numerous occasions, and the 3 positions mentioned above have not been able to fire a shot.
We need to replace those 3 positions ASAP.

Bulldogs found a way and can sign elite talent despite years of losing , you need to hitch your wagon to power and money, not Huey and [This word has been automatically removed]ing duey.
I just don't see the comparisons with the Bulldogs. Speaking purely as an outsider who has no skin in the game (although I've always preferred ... well ... Balmain to the Bulldogs of the day) - the Bulldogs are like Manchester United whilst the Tigers are Everton. One club has a history of successes (as well as failures) and ALWAYS seems to have ambition. Maybe too much ambition at times (particularly in the final years of Des). The other lurches from one disaster to the next year to year, decade to decade and has no ambition. I'm sorry. It's just how I see it from over here.

The forward pack I've just watched the Broncos run a conga line through in the first twenty at Brisbane?

Ok mate.
The forwards aren’t the problem. I’m telling you now. Incompetence from the useless halves is the killer.
Any pack is going to struggle to stay on task when they constantly do the hard work getting the team into attacking positions on the field and the dopes wearing 1, 6, and 7 kick dead, drop the ball, throw intercepts, run into each other or get tackled with the ball on the last themselves. Absolute tools.
Anyway, just my thoughts.

I agree the Wests Tigers have a long history of losing and the foundation clubs were also pretty unsuccessful over time but that shouldn’t prevent major change. South’s might be a better example after they were kicked out. New owners with money turned the joint around.
Well, yes. Ownership is the issue. A far, far bigger issue than Sheens, Brooks and whoever else below. With the right owners setting performance criteria it should be possible for even Brooks to play a hell of a lot better than he is. You'd think at some point the NRL leadership would say - "Look, your performance is now dragging down the league. Either do something about it or we do something about you". But that's Ideal World thinking. Not reality, I guess.

No. That just doesn't wash. We can argue as much as we like about whether Jackson Hastings deserved to be canned by the Tigers (I think it was a bad decision - but that's just me). But regardless of my feelings - a halfback partnership of Hastings & Tyson Gamble isn't going to win any titles. When the Knights lost Ponga their forwards didn't quit. They upped the ante. Forwards blaming backs for their lack of intensity - no. Just no. How about the forwards do their jobs, stop the Broncos from running unobstructed over the try line so the backs at least have a shot at making the game competitive? Regardless of whether they are good enough - Luke Brooks and AD were not the reason the Tigers lost so badly in Brisbane. The pack quit in the first ten minutes!

I suspect we do get spoken about regularly at NRL HQ.
This is our 24th season and we have only played finals 3 times.
We’ve caused a lot of drama and become whipping boys for the media.
We fail to improve.
We are noticed in the same way that a drunk is noticed at family gatherings when he constantly swears in front of the kids and knocks tables over smashing shit everywhere…

Or it could be Ian Millward...

How do you clean out head office when they're answerable and accountable to nobody?

When discussing Signing suggestions, its important to note that after releasing Ken, we are $1m under the Cap THIS SEASON. Awesome Recruitment team!!!
The Club has forfeited 2023 just like they did 2022.

Crazy wonder where they splash the cash
