I don't disagree he has been disappointing - but you and many said the same with AJ, and I'm not saying he's a star yet, but he has come a long way. I am happy to give Talau (and AJ) just a bit more time.

Of course, if an opportunity for a very good outside back comes along - you would take it.

Still on contract until end of 2024. We should have him locked up well before November 1, so that no one can even negotiate contracts with him.

I agree, I think that was rubbish, or at least half the story.

It could have been we take JAC on these conditions:
- Pay full freight for him
- Give Melbourne Nofa or Talau
- Pay 70% of their salary until their contract expires

And we probably couldn't do that given we had Reynolds, Mbye, Brooks all on the books at that time.

A swap is very rarely just a swap.

What i've heard is that it appears the push is from Tommy, not the club to join Manly effectively immediately, however talks are still ongoing. Also would expect most backs, especially those unsigned, will also move on.

He is off contract so talau can negotiate for 2024 and as we’ve seen, if clubs can secure someone for the following season, they’ll usually all push for it to be earlier.

1-7 has been the clear glaring issue this year with Tupou and Naden the only bright spots, and AJ appearing more suited to the backrow.

Tupou and Naden the only ones that have shown they fit either category.

If I was recruitment I'd be trying to push through a 2024 deal for someone like Kaeo Weekes and trying to get that through early. Tommy is not a top 17 player but it's pointless losing depth to a team already lacking enough depth, unless there are plans already in place.

The likes of Josh Feledy, Solo Saukuru, and Jahream Bula, imo neither are ready for FG, but hope the club continues to focus on developing them properly. Three young backs with plenty of potential.

Then we would only have around 27 of 30 spots filled, so either we are about to announce signings or might be getting ready to promote maybe Bula and Smith?
 
Think we’ve just got to let him go.

We suck period.

He might do ok in a good team.

But we need better players.

The more we let go the more we’ll be looking for replacements.

Tigers didn’t want to swap either Noffa or Talau for JAC … lol.

If true, pretty piss poor from Tom. WTs have stuck by him for a long time and given him every opportunity to succeed. Compare this to the response from Shawn Blore who has been very appreciative of the support from the club, this is more of a smack in the face.
Hope we are only getting part of the story.

If Tommy is off contract in 24 and the Tigers haven't offered him anything, then you can't blame the guy. The early exit sometimes is cleaner and probably benefits us given this year is done already.

The only keepers in the backline are Naden, Tupou, and maybe AJ.
