Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He’s that good hey?
And when you say nit far off are we talking next year or a few years?

Not sure, think only 15.

Hmatts started well along with half alex isdale. But they fell off a cliff back half of the season.

Obviously Harold matts to first grade is a big jump so these boys 3-5 years of development.

Maybe some by 18 years of age if all goes well

Pezet has told his management to not speak to any other club except Melbourne. Was mentioned in both RL punditry programming and during our game with the Storm and the Titans game with the Storm

I accept that this is probably true but the guy is a moron. We could offer him 500k which would be huge money for him.

The problem is WT is literally a death sentence for any prospective footballer.
Players on his trajectory would definitely be reluctant to take the risk on us unless they were juniors from our system. Even Pezet at his age would be able to see how enormous of an undertaking it would be and how much immediate pressure would be placed on his shoulders.

Adding to this is the leadership vacuum we have at the moment as well. Young halves generally succeed with the guidance of other skilled spine players - we’d need another elite level talent spine player with leadership qualities in order to appeal to a player like Pezet in my opinion.

Or! we’d need Phil Gould, Craig Bellamy, Trent Robinson, Wayne Bennett or Nick Politis haha.

If Manly really are after Tommy you would assume that it may be because Koula is going to Rugby. Manly have Koula, Parker, Harper, Tuipolotu and Garrick can all play centre. Didn’t Manly promise to move Garrick to centre as part of his deal to re-sign?

Either way I wouldn’t let Tommy go. He is still the second best centre at the club after Naden.
Talau the fraud is the 7th best centre at the club, when he's not injured.

Trent Robinson is a fraud sheens would win the comp each year if he had the rooster squad at his disposal.

Tigers will have spent 11 years and about to be 12. Failing.

There is no premiership window for us. Band-Aid fixes year after year.

Goodluck to all the supporters, including myself. The stigma going around, the negativity is going to take 5 -7 years to get rid of now. Unless consistency occurs and the ceo and board get themselves out of the limelight, all we can expect is more of the same.

Why are we on this page? Hope?

There is none.

Very accurate and sad post....I have been a Tigers supporter most of my 50+ years life, I have been a continuous WT member with my sons for the last 12 years, this year I decided against renewing as I felt its time the Tigers "earnt" my membership renewal. I was hoping the Tigers performances in 2023 would do just that, but clearly they are not going to. All my mates laugh at me now when I tell them I'm a Tigers fan, they all think the club is shit with NO light at the end of the tunnel. Even my mates say, No player or Coach wants to join the WT", we are a career suicide club for players and coaches.

Yes, the Tigers are in my blood, just like a black sheep family member, I can't ever fully disown them. I'm afraid I can't see any positive changes on the horizon, but I remain hopeful that one day/year, I can feel good about cheering my team to a victory...(which is approaching 1 year) and the club is a regular finals contender..

OK W stop right now coz it’s sounding like your next step is the big S. But please don’t do it, hang in there( bad choice of words) and let’s see what happens in the future.
We need you !!!!
PS And believe me we are all more than cranky about where we’ve been and where we are.
But tomorrows a brand new day, and who knows what might happen.
As the old saying goes” it’s always darkest before the dawn”
Cheers mate.

Everyone here is way too pessimistic. IP, Klemmer, Api, Bateman beg to differ. Tupou is starting to come good. Kepaoa is looking good. Staines is starting to look good.

If we can get another signing or two we'll turn it around.

The problem is WT is literally a death sentence for any prospective footballer.
However, there are several players that either played their best at the WT, or they became "representative" players when they were with the WT: Halatau, Hodgson, Ellis, Lawrence, Tuiaki, Simona, JAC, Koroibete, Richards, Marshall, Farah, Woods, Tedesco, Taupau, A Fifita, Whaitura, Elford, Prince ...

Note that all the players except JAC became "stars" under our current coach😉, so is this the end of the tunnel or the headlamp on a fast approaching train?🤔

It we can resolve the issue with the halves inability to do as needed, we can recruit and give the true story "the halves are key to our improvement and you can play a key role in this".
* we have a good, useful forward pack doing its job
* our backline is good enough and can do its job but we are looking to better recruitment as we can
* the halves are failing at leading, strategising and sorting the game
* Benji can mentor and WT can call in specialist halfback coaching to assist
We would also have to say our spine will stabilise once we get the needed halfback and 5/8, you can be that.

WT have to settle on Staines at fullback and Api at hooker for the rest of year and stop tinkering there. Let them settle and recruitment be able to tell a consistent story. It can work.

I agree we need to stick with Staines. Ride the odd low point, as long as he is working tirelessly off the field to improve his game then you stick with him. I also would take this opportunity to give Laurie an extended run at 6. We might as well use this disastrous year to see if we have a diamond in the rough with Laurie as a 6. I feel he would go good there, and combine with Staines well. Again, he would need to show he is constantly working on his game and looking to improve. You never know, we may just discover we have our 1 and 6 already here and just need the right 7 to go with them.
