Why shouldn't players be allowed to go where they want even if it's less than offered elsewhere?

The question to you is.
You are a Rugby League player, your earning life expectancy in the game to earn money that may have to provide you with a living pretty much for the rest of your life would be maybe 10 to 14 years if you are lucky,
Explains why you would definately not go to a club that is going to pay you one million dollars less for the next 3 years than the club you are currently playing for.

Or at least to another club for same money or a little bit more.

You’d have to think the Broncs would be his most likely landing spot if he leaves and given his family’s criticism of the Roosters attacking structure they may be trying to make that a reality

He is absolute trash worse than Wakeham, Panthers have no backup halves yet he can't make their top 30.

Me personally?
Hard to get my head around $750k pa or $1.1m pa.... I'd probably take more but I'd be more than happy with 750...if he has good advice he could make the lower amount work for him well for a lifetime
Maybe he really does just wanna win a comp and feels he's more chance at south's the Canberra.

True. But they also have suitable 1st graders to replace him. We have 2 reserve graders to pick from.

What would you prefer, a halfback who might help you win a game, might be inexperienced but will try his best, wouldnt it be worth a try, or do we just keep playing a half, that has proven how his bad play helps our opponents every time he is in the team, a proven loser with a 10 year record of helping our team lose.

I think I worked out why we have not got and decent players as yet , it’s because we are to busy chasing reserve grade people like wakeham and cherrington , I wish whoever is in charge gets of there arse and chase some of the players that have been mentioned on this forum, before we get into double figure loses

This, the Roosters identify and weed out a weak link and sort it out, we just wait, hope and pray it works out.

Or the lower club makes a binding offer that another club needs to match. That might stop this “I’m taking a pay cut to win a comp” rubbish…

My view is if a player opens himself up to entering the open market then highest offer wins.

If a players enters the market with conditions like xyz clubs then I’m fine with that because the intent was declared from the outset.

Would make it for a very interesting sell period in which the NRL could market it and in this scenario don’t see how players wouldn’t win cash wise.

If it is permitted by the NRL administration then it’s not rorting really.
NRL is a public company, generating profit. It produces entertainment and is like any other tv show. The integrity of the competition itself is essentially for PR, and only bears relevance in regards to how it contributes to achieving said profit and entertainment goals.

Look around, there is no whistleblowing, which can only mean everyone is in on it, duly playing their part in the show.
Once upon a time I was young and naive enough to believe WWE was real too.

Great post. I’ve said it on here before that the Players Association represents the players only. Not the NRL. Not the Salary Cap auditor. The Players Association wants the players to earn as much money as possible. They don’t care if it is legally inside the salary cap or illegally outside the salary cap. The Players Association will never agree to a change in the structure or policing of the salary cap that removes the need for illegal payments by clubs to players outside the salary cap. When you have the Players Association taking this position and the NRL not looking very hard to ensure another salary cap scandal is avoided there is limited hope for parity in the game. Unfortunately it’s the fan who cares more about things than the players and administrators.
