Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We have also got NZ schoolboy halfback Oliver Lawry. Only played 2-3 SG Ball games for Balmain before injuring his ankle. Only just came back last week via Sydney Shield. Will probably play a few games there and then see him in Flegg in 1-2 months. He trained with the NRL squad for a part of the pre-season.

Lawry is a guy I definitely locked my eye on.
Tough few weeks with a poor Balmain team.
The kid can play though. Both sides of ruck
with his union background playing flyhalf.
Can run, can ball play, can defend. Looking
forward to seeing what he can do for wests

Hadn’t seen much of him until he arrived at us.

Don’t think he’s a highly-touted prospect as we’re his fourth junior rep team he’s arrived at.

Went well in the limited game time I’ve been able to watch but is 18th man this week.
Mitchell is fairly average. Will follow a game plan well. Have coached against him and was very surprised to see him in our flegg side. His dad has plenty of connections with clubs as he has coached in junior reps. One of our KOE cup coaching staff coached him a few years ago so probably got a foot in the door that way. He was always 4th or 5th best halfback in his age groups in Penrith. If goes past Flegg level with us we are in massive trouble.

Tiger_claws with your experience around these younger age groups, give us your tip on a few currently in our ranks you believe are real good chances of becoming regular good quality NRL players ?
Also your thoughts on Ethan Sanders. Do you think if he was recruited by Wests Tigers, would he be a realistic chance of becoming a good quality NRL player within the next 12-18 months ?

I haven’t seen enough of our Flegg side this year to form an opinion. I was heading out to watch them against Penrith but they moved venues late and didn’t allow a crowd. The small amount I have seen nobody has jumped out at me. Ethan Sanders is an outstanding prospect still a couple of years away, Joseph O’Neill (Dogs) is another that impresses me. Young Tallyn (Wests Ball) is something special, I am really excited about him I believe he impressed when he trained with the NRL squad at Christmas. Having said that I have seen some absolute stars in junior reps simply not cut it in the NRL. I am planning on getting to a few Flegg games in the next couple of weeks. I will report then

all that nonsense with Buzz,n 10 year wonder etc, mondays nrl 360 talked that the roosters wont give the kid early 2 union, but r open to parting ways with him

Poor comment

Go and start a thread called “official signing thread - like, contract has been signed”

And see how many people read it.

No one has to engage in debate on here if they don’t want to

Are you the judge of how much “engagement” someone must have before they can write a rumor they here.

That’s called suppressing free speech.

Everyone should be entitled to post what they want - if people want to engage great - if not great.

Otherwise everyone who is annoyed should go and start the official signing thread I listed above.

You’re ruining it for the guys like me and others who want to hear rumors.

That’s why we’re on this thread

That’s like people going into the Luke Brooks thread and telling people off for posting comments about Luke Brooks.

RUMOURS … and whether you think they’re not qualified enough to be a rumour is only your opinion.

I repeat - stop ruining it for the rest of us

I agree with Tucker, Pom had absolutely no inside word and was making it up. If you think about it logically, he was posting years ago and it would be weird to have a person with inside knowledge still hang around through all the different administrations and coaches and still be getting inside info and still be leaking. But if he was leaking, it must have been one of those double talk leaks where someone was feeding him fictitious information to distract everyone, because he got very little right.

Also, he'd mainly only post after a news report suggested something and his strike rate, like those rumours in newspapers or online he read, was abysmal.

I've never once argued he shouldn't post, but I treat it as entertainment and fiction. I'm surprised at how many still believe he's legitimate. The Pascoe rumour was poor play by him, he went all in on the rumour and messed up. Mostly he was quite clever about giving himself an out, and partly we all here are so desperate to have an insider that we overlook all the many times he did overreach.

I have no doubt he's an alter ego of someone here.

I don't really think it's offensive to say I don't believe someone. The constant 'make or break meetings' with Moses became comic when he started reporting them in October last year so surely it's acceptable to question it when it was just the same old supposed deadline again and again.

Yes I'm interested to see how he goes. Not expecting much this year. But I think the new breed of halves will replace those who were here at the start of the year soon enough.
Camroux and the Souths kid in flegg, Smith, Hill already on the outer in Cup.

Hopefully at least one of Pellow, Tannous, Matai, Lawrie can kick on and contribute. Then Conti and Large have time to develop and get blooded when they're ready
