Might to be tough to pry Meaney away from the Storm. We'd have to come in with a vastly superior offer & not sure whether that is viable for for a winger / backup fullback.

Totally agree
Meaney is the backup winger/fullback at the Storm if he doesn’t get a run in the centre’s in front of Olam I think he will end up there 18th man as he doesn’t cover the half’s or hooker like young Wishart.
If we keep Staines I don’t see the need for Meaney but if Staines moves on I would offer him the same $ that we were prepared to pay Staines as a backup.

Unsure of who I want instead of him, but hope the Sezer talk is nothing more than that. Especially if the contract is for more than a single season, and without any further being a club option.

Hey we did it last year , and even into this one . We med retired Matulino somehow , moved on ken … seriously how ? That was a bad contract . Managed to sell the biggest lemon to the dragons in multiple players . I think we are going alright lately in the shonky ways to get players off our books .
we aren’t quite roosters alumni level shonks , to which Gus was one of the originators , but we aren’t just getting hosed like we used to . Thank god the dragons and titans still exist .

Sheens spotted 2009 Daine Laurie at a carnival or some such and got him down to Sydney
the big smoke wasn't for him.

He was let go with some off field issues and went to Panthers, Then went to Knights
Fantastic talent - Didn't have the desire and never kicked on....
Had his issues but was a nice enough bloke.

He was one of my favourite players.

Shame he didn't play longer, but sometimes I guess there are people who are just naturally really good at things but don't have the desire for everything else that comes with professional sport at that level.

Tough as nails and such an exciting player. Hope he's well. 😊

I'd sign him regardless. He's a good player at wing and fullback - don't recall him at centre, but he'd probably be one of the tigers' best there too! - and an awesome goal kicker.

I think the value of a good goal kicker is often forgotten. In 05, Hodgson was top point scorer and his conversions and penalties contributed immensely to the success of the team. Richards was the last really good one they had - interestingly behind Hodgo in 05.

He will need the cash to pay lawyers as his brother just got arrested for allegedly bringing 1.8kg of the drug Ice into NSW. He also has to deal with his mother’s issue also ,which would be difficult to concentrate on football with all this in the background.

I'd consider meaney at 1 and bula at centre.

Meaney would be a great addition to our back line

Fullback is still very new to him. Unsure if it's his best position. Just because WT play him there doesn't mean he will ace it there.

He seems to have won over Billy Slater and a few others including Sheens pre-season with his performances. I lean towards Meaney playing centre and perhaps that is what all the noise about Olam is at the Storm.

It's interesting timing.
It'll be even more interesting if his brother and mother are represented by high priced lawyers paid for by the Broncos by some connection.

I remember his debut against the Broncos at Suncorp, I was listening to it on the radio, and I remember Warren Boland saying “It looks one of the members of Milli Vanilli has converted to league”

Main memory that stands out is when Ellis went through a hole against the Storm, drew Slater and had Laurie in support, and Laurie dropped it with the line wide open. It pretty much summed him up as a player. There was never a dull moment with him. Either good or bad. He was a spectacle.
