Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We’d be a much better shout paying overs to get Dearden imo. There will probably be enough good clubs offering Luai enough that coming here for an extra couple of hundred thousand a year might not be worth it. Whereas if we offer Dearden big overs, I doubt many clubs will offer him anything in the same ballpark.

Obvs Luai has been a very big part of the Panthers success over the last few years, they can afford to let him go. 1.1 million a season is definitely paying big overs for him, Tigers are desperate and they don’t have a lot of options around. Training under Benji might be exactly what Luai needs to take his game to the next level as well… time will tell.
I don't think it is big overs with the rise in the Cap for next year and after. 33% increase in the cap. So $1.2 mill in the new $900k

So much noise around our attempts to sign Luai. Just feels like the same old routine and surely it's a bit of amateur hour again that all this information gets fed to the media when there's been no signature.

And then cue the 'basketcase' and 'tigers rejected again' when we don't get them.

Sorry to be negative, I just wish the club actually learnt how to handle negotiations to avoid this.

There will always be noise around high profile players negotiations and you can bet it all comes from the managers. It is their best interest to make it known that their clients are being pursued by more than one club.

People have short memories. Naden was one of our best the first 6 rounds or so before getting injured and he never really made it back into the team since. When he's fit and healthy, he's our best centre option by a large margin
When we were 0-6 and couldn’t score tries. My memory is fine.

1.1 million is a bargain.

We were going to pay 1.4 million for Moses.

We don't have any players being paid over a million. If Luai doesn't deserve that salary, then I'm not sure who does.

It comes from the player managers. And yes teams that aren't winning struggle to make key signatures.

There isn't a lot you can do about it except win more and keep trying to sign the best players.
