Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Just seen WTF members commenting that the NRL is planning on scrapping this stupid November 1st contract rule next year,
Does anyone know if this is fact or just rumour.??
Or wishfull thinking.

And also what team has been badly affected each year by this rule more than other teams have.

I have my opinion.

AFB could take Cronulla to the next level - good signing for them.

Dragons now have missed out on Dearden and AFB in one day. If they miss out on Joey Manu too which is probably likely.

They may be the next basket case in the comp.
It would really top it off if we could secure that young Cowboys backrower Kulikefu Finefeuiaki that they are interested in. I think you mentioned or someone mentioned we were investigating a few months ago?

I would give this some serious consideration. With Luai here, its a shoot out between Sullivan and TDS on the bench I would think...
Why release any of them? Galvin and Fainu are not NRL ready yet. Why not keep them all on the books and see who comes through over the next two seasons. None are on huge coin so not big cap liabilities. You would only release if you are getting something you want in return from another club. Smart clubs don’t release good players. They use them as a tradable commodity or roster depth.

Fainu is on $500k a season from 2024. Galvin is on a tenth of that. Great work Fulton, he bidded against himself on both Sullivan and Fainu.

Listening to a few of Richo podcasts

He doesn’t blood juniors unless they’ve signed for more than a year

He is dogged in getting a deal done and doesn’t leave any stone unturned

He likes giving juniors a pathway to first grade

He is the ultimate winner

So I reckon next year they’ll see how fainu, bud and galvin go - and they’ll release one of them.

And then if both remaining two want to play in the halves they’ll keep the best one we want to keep

Can’t ask for more than that

I don't understand the Fainu recruitment $500 k a season and same for his brother .
If we have Sezer and Sullivan and possibly Luai . Why ?
Seems like the last great torpedo fired by Lee and Justin getting the Manly insider as chief recruiter . We have 240 pages correctly upset at a long standing winger with a bad attitude getting $500k .However little said about a kid who's never played NRL getting the same

He's not on 500k for '24 or '25 don't listen lol

Signed for 4 years, secure for maybe 1 year. What odds on another release request at some point during his contract.

Or he gets photographed out with his old
comancheros mates again now that he's
back in Sydney haha. 1m 4 him is crazy
4 us but good 4 Sharks. They can go deep
