Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The more I read these forums, the more I’m convinced 90% of you are deluded! A consecutive three time wooden spooner with the lowest membership of Sydney clubs signing a sponsorship deal double the norm?

The Hunt thread was an eye opener too. A 29yo bloke has played no more than 25-30 mins a game in his career, was considering retirement, and he’s suddenly going to come to WT to get fitter, and play the biggest minutes of the prop rotation? 😂

And others here thinking WT have a better roster right now than any of the last 3-4 years, with Saukuru, Faagatu, Sukkar, Kit and Luke Laulilii, Miller, Matamua, Tumeth, Feledy in the top 30. Then there are the guys everyone wants out in Sullivan, Naden, Bateman in there too. Geez, I hope the remaining 18 in the roster are injury free all season and top class! You know, those guys like Staines, To’a, Twal, Klemmer, Hunt, Bird, Doueihi, Seyfarth, etc. who need to play each week given there are 12 spuds, or unwanted other players in the roster. 🤣

I don’t care if boys like Miller, Faagatu, Matamua, Saukuru, etc will get $150-200k a pop in a payout. Sheens and McDonnell [This word has been automatically removed]ed up and that’s on Lee and HBG bringing them back in important positions to only dump them 2 years later. Take the hit and move out those kids who were signed by them and look out of their depth. No club will take them off WT, and they won’t be NRL players. Just fat roster cloggers taking the spot of players who might be something.
A few people have said we signed a sponsorship deal with a Chinese car manufacturer. I'll assume its BYD. Didn't hear anything about double the norm though. But at least we've got one.

Well said … lot of people prefer to drink the Kool Aid and hope for the best …and that JL will be a one man band …

He’s probably more likely to want to play at a club who are in a position to challenge for a premiership
Yeah no kidding, but we don’t have that chip to play, and I was replying to old mate who asked what chance we had of keeping Gal. The only thing I could come up with was Luai, and who wouldn’t wanna play with a gun player like him?

Where are people even gathering this from? WT haven’t mentioned it (from what I’ve heard), doubt BYD has said anything and highly unlikely we have any who works for BYD here, I might’ve just missed something tho
I have done work with BYD, but that wouldn't get me that type of info lol

NRL 2024: Brett Hodgson to return to Wests Tigers as part of Benji Marshall’s coaching staff

Benji Marshall will reunite with a 2005 premiership-winning Tigers teammate who is set to return to the club as part of their revamped coaching staff.

Premiership-winning fullback Brett Hodgson is set to return to the Wests Tigers as part of Benji Marshall’s revamped coaching staff.

This masthead understands that Hodgson has agreed to terms with the Tigers and will form part of Marshall’s staff next year, the pair joining forces to help lift the club off the bottom of the ladder.

Hodgson and Marshall were teammates in the Tigers’ 2005 premiership win but they face a mountainous task to lift the club back into title contention given recent results – the club won a third consecutive wooden spoon this season.

Hodgson was most recently on Eddie Jones’ staff with the Wallabies, part of a coaching apprenticeship that has taken him around the globe.

He served as a coaching consultant at Hull FC and Widnes in Super League, and then an assistant with Widnes.

He returned to the Tigers in 2018 as an assistant coach before returning to England to take charge of Hull FC.

His return to the Tigers came after assistant Robbie Farah opted to step down from his role as an assistant to Marshall.

Chief executive Shane Richardson conducted a comprehensive search for his replacement and the club has arrived on Hodgson, who played 103 games for the Tigers and played fullback in their one and only premiership win.

Having foamed their coaching roster. Richardson and Marshall will now turn their attention back to strengthening their roster with Brisbane back rower Kobe Hetherington still locked in talks with the club.

Hetherington has played 78 games for the Broncos but has been given permission to explore his options on the open market.
