Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

People had a similar mindset in 23 and 24.
With all due respect, I’m not believing anyone saying we can’t win it. Given our current forward pack which is looking likely to get even weaker in 25, and given our coaching staff who are still not good, we are a good bet for 17th.
Bookies have us as favourites for the spoon again

Quick update on roster spots into next season & 2026 ...

NEXT SEASON: We currently have 29 players under contract for 2025 which includes John Bateman & excludes Jordan Miller and Chris Faagutu. We also have the full 6 development players allowed under contract for 2025.

Possible exits in the works: John Bateman, Brent Naden, Jayden Sullivan, Adam Doueihi. These are the 4 who have been mentioned in the media.

2026: We have 10 players with contracts finishing next season in the top 30.

Fonua Pole, Alex Seyfarth, Charlie Staines, Justin Matamua, Brent Naden, Josh Feledy, Adam Doueihi, Brandon Tumeth, David Klemmer (mutual option for 26), Tony Sukkar (club option for 26)

I would say the only 2 we are currently in talks to extend are Pole (we know this) & Seyfarth. The rest will either not be in the plans for '26 or need to prove themselves worthy of an extension.

The only player we know for sure being promoted to the top 30 in 2026 is Haemasi Makasini. The only players with current Development or T&T contracts who look any chance for top 30 in '26 are Heath Mason & Tim Johannssen.

FYI Johannssen & Lachlan Broederlow are our only players with Development contracts for 2026 that we know of. I would say that Vaka Aho, Jared Haywood, Archie Duncombe, Pheonix Godinet & Christian Taupau-Moors are possibles.

In summary, we have a shit load of roster spots available for 2026 so I reckon Richo is looking now at recruiting 2-3 elite players for '26 (in addition to 2-3 for next season) and this will still allow us the roster space to extend those off-contract who prove worthy + promote those 2-3 internally (Makasini, Mason).

Love your work @BlackWhiteGold

I reckon Richo is definitely looking externally for a backrower for 2026 and a middle to take over from Klemmer. Having a bit of wiggleroom is good for us to hit the market and also have players try to earn a spot if in our system already.

I honestly believe this CEO will tap Benji on the shoulder halfway through the year if results don't improve. I also believe Benji will go graciously if that is the case, to allow early determination of our coach for 2026.
Because Benji went graciously the last 2 times he was let go by the club?

A little bit of optimism,

Next year we are going to make the 8, Benji will be announced as most improved Coach of the year, and one of our players will be anointed player of the season. C'mon get behind our team, stop bagging Benji all the time.
It's called support.
Weren’t you one of the biggest Brooks bashers on here?

Gee really , u think that are team can avoid a spoon next year with the crap pack that we will field next year , do u think that Galvin and others will hang around for 2026 , if u do u got rocks in ur head , we must sign 2-3 forwards now or we will never get of the bottom

Of course they can avoid it. Won’t go much higher, but they can easily avoid the spoon.
