Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Isn’t he @ wahs?
The scoop was ‘who had a surprising price tag as a potential signing to replace Mam.
I know Boyd signed with the Warriors but that was not before it was announced that Mam wasn’t going to get sacked. In that timeframe maybe Brisbane was sussing him out before he signed with the Warriors given Brisbane is just up the road as opposed to a cross the ditch.

I don’t think we’ll be doing much recruiting for 26. I know they don’t want to block pathways because we are a development club so I think we are just going to get a lock, 2r and a centre.
I think they’ll wait on centre and see what happens with May’s court case.
Lock will probably be Hetherington if we can get him or if we miss out I can see them signing Brandon Smith.
So 2r is the only spot I can see them shopping for.

I don't think we're going to be a major player in free agency ahead of next season. We've only really got Klemmer coming off the books (plus Naden, but he won't be on much, and a bunch of minimum salary backups) and his money has to go to Galvin - or at least we should all be praying it does. Unless we hit the jackpot and manage to shed Bateman and/or Sullivan without carrying a huge amount of freight I'd be stunned if there's much cap room left.

Agree 100%. I too still have nightmares about Farah insisting he should feed the scrum against the Chooks in 2010 semi. Threw it carelessly into a tangle of legs and lost the scrum!! He had one job - 35 seconds to go - don’t lose the scrum. And yet he did. And then blamed everyone else.

He did it again 12 months later against the Warriors. We were leading by 2 points with 2 mins to go in the semi and on the last tackle instead of kicking to their try line he ran a blind side play and got caught with the ball on half way line. I was at the game and everyone was screaming “kick it! Kick it!” So stupid. Just super dumb - total lack of smart leadership. So instead of having to run it from their own try line the Warriors got the ball on halfway and scored and we lost another unlosable game - all because of Farah.

Robbie’s brain melts under pressure. Always did. Yet he never took responsibility. He lost us 2 premierships. We should have won both 2010 and 2011.
🤣🤣🤣”all because of Farah”. Get a grip.
Heighno had nothing to do with that 2010 loss?
Lawrence and Tuquiri had nothing to do with the 2011 loss?

Sullivan is the only one I actually feel for. He has never spat the dummy, has always said he wants to stay and earn a spot. He isn't going to get it with us, but at least his attitude is right.
There is certainly a good player in there,i like the idea of sending him of to E ngland ,softer comp, tell him you dont come home until you man up .He is tall when his back is straight ,yet he wont push thru the line,if he grew any balls he could be a good f/b at Parra.Shame Brydan signed him up

we will have our fingers in the pie -no worries

Proposed idea: “The Bateman Sponsor”. A company pays whatever Bateman is being paid out + a bit extra. Doesn’t get a spot on our jersey, but gets full credit for Bateman leaving, gets a full thank you off the club and added to our sponsor list for the 2 years he’s still on the cap. Added as a significant, non-jersey sponsor while 95% of our club fans will love the company and other nrl fans laugh and ultimately bring attention to this funny, ego killing move
What a wonderful idea wish I had though of it.

Yes that blind side play against the Warriors was right in front of me, still haunts me to this day! Mind you we still should’ve defended the try regardless.

don’t be surprised if Brisbane have to shed a player to fit Hunt in.

he can take a paycut all he likes, but the NRL determines a value of a player and that is the figure that is attributed to a club’s cap, not how much he is paid.

Ben Hunt is worth $700k at least, not $500k, which is roughly how much Brisbane have to spare currently.

I think there’s still a chance @teddy23 ’s rumour comes to fruition and Madge opts to swap Hetherington for Bateman at half price to give them an additional $200k to get Hunt across the line.
Left field idea … we target Teig Wilton from Sharks for ‘26 onwards. Once he agrees, we offer Bateman as immediate swap with some cream on top in terms of $$$.

Sharks may be inclined to do that as they would get Bateman for 2 years rather than Wilton for 1, with Sharks in their premiership window.

why wait ,Teig is a good get

I would like Bateman and AD / Sullivan to broncos for Kobe H.
We contribute for them both and take Kobe which creates $$ for them to sign Hunt.
Even if we paid half of Sullivan and Bateman's salaried, it would still cost the Broncos more to sign them than re-sign Hetherington

He has NOTHING to offer. His efforts as and experienced leader have been disgraceful. Surely you haven't watched his games to make that comment. Geez
He has nothing to offer a side with no talent. On a stronger side where he doesn't need to standouts be could be a decent player, especially for 300k
