Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Rock hopper is a term used to describe a rock fisherman probably because some like to move from and test more than one spot until they are happy with their choice, also when a wave arrives you may have to move quickly hence jump from rock to rock quickly to avoid trouble, if you are smart, I would not use your highlighted words on here again unless you want to receive backlash.
Yikes!
So now I've got that in my google search history... 😐

Change the rules every time. Unknown players get the full force while players like Latrell get a feather duster approach.

I'm actually annoyed with South Sydney continually fighting for Latrell to get the ban reneged. Cop it on the chin and serve the one game. That lack of accountability is why Demetriou got sacked.
Souffs have always been the most disgusting club in rugby league

I think Mann got of very lightly, should have got 1 year ban , he broken a young girls hip he could have killed her , really should have got jail time for the list of offences he had

None of the penalties were hard enough .. video of Fatrell (who's lost a lot weight already for this season) sniff some white powder off a table .. clear as mud .. gets a 1 week suspension .. but if you reactively slap a player across the face with 2 fingers as he steps you .. you get 4 weeks suspension .. so the punishment doesnt match the crime.

Its like telling the kids .. its ok to sniff "some kind of white powder" off a table like these NRL role model have .. but you cant accidentally touch some another player across the face with 2 fingers in the game these days .. The NRL is portraying the wrong image these days .. they should have come down hard as hell on Latrell, the Fox, and Mann .. show kids that you cant / shouldnt do this and that its not acceptable .. !! Get your Shiznitz together NRL .. !!

That’s my issue. Some seem to think it’s automatic.
He'll be a big brother figure more than anything. Probably has a few nuggets of wisdom from the Bellamy days and being around the QLD and AUS team.

I wouldn't be pinning my hopes on him being the secret recipe to any success we might have.

It is what it is. Plenty of ex players hang around teams and help out around the joint. Not sure how much direct input he's going to have unless it is a message coming down from Benji.

I can't see the harm in having him around the place, sure he can be helpful to players.

Don't call them role models mate they're not they just happen to be good at a sport. If they weren't they'd probably be labourers not that there is anything wrong with that.

For starters it’s Inglis … and apart from his career he’s also been in trouble more than once.
He may have a reputation as a player … but not as a person or a coach.
So are we only going to get the squeeky clean people to coach us. "Hey guys don't drink this thing called Beer, I am not exactly sure what it is... but drugs are bad, Ok-aye"?

Inglis can speak with authority. He would have seen players ruin their career. Far out if GI tells me something, I am listening.

Look, I get it. GI hasn't coached. But he has not only played NRL at the top level, he has been the top level. I would say there are only 3 names that can rival him at Center or even 5/8 in the last 20 years including Benji.

Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't.... But if it works it goes Gangbusters. You get GI turning Bula into anything close to what he was OR get GI firing up Olam/Turuva... YE GODS!

He made a few mistakes in his playing days, we all do, for me the real issue is if we learn from them to be better people. I'm sure Greg has. His experience in the game and his struggles in his personal life would be invaluable knowledge to our younger guys coming through. Think his influence over the whole squad could be awesome. His ability to coach I'm not sure about, might be great or might be mot so great, no harm in giving the guy a go. We have with Benji. All I ask is Ingliss takes a friendly approach off the pitch and a no mercy approach on it to show the young guys what's required to reach the elite level he was at.

I’m not disputing his on field talent… just his intelligence and moral compass. He has zero credits for coaching.
To be fair he’s starting at the bottom (not being sexist) in the NRLW .

That's where everyone starts... Jesus imagine the uproar if he was with the first grade squad as assistant...its not a big deal

Exactly! If the players can’t learn anything from Inglis’ football and life experiences then they’re not open minded. Besides, isn’t Greg on the Rich Digital books? I think it’s great Richo is finding him something constructive to do.

I think his involvement with the Goanna Academy shows that he has learnt from his own mistakes and is keen to help others not follow his path off the paddock. That was his role with Bula last year.

While GI is a bit of an introvert (so is Wayne Bennett by the way) when he speaks about footy people listen. Players will pick stuff up just by having him around full time, able to ask questions, get tips etc.

If GI is keen to be a coach, whith his nature, his approach will be in stark contrast to Benji. It will be more likely the one on one fatherly chat off to the side that makes a difference in a players game than a give me the ball and let me show you. Having different coaches with different styles around the club is a great thing.

First we whinge about too many old boys then we recruit outside of the mould and complain about the ability of one of the best in the game before he has had a chance to even impart knowledge. Let's get a grip on reality. This is good for the club in the short term even if it turns out he can't coach for shit.

How much is it worth just to simply have him wandering around the COE inspiring young kids, having a chat and for recruitment.

Well done Richo, smart move!
