Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The Dragons need halves, the Eels need halves, the Dogs with Burton down, the Roosters will not wait for a junior to develop and the Panthers need a half. At some stage this season, imo there will be a point when managers see an opportunity for more $.

It's the same with Tumeth looked at his best when he played in the junior SOO team but just hasn't progressed since, looking like another one of those players that looks good in the juniors but just doesn't have it at senior level.
When looking for young potential talent, you need to look beyond tackle counts, size, and playing mins. or whatever makes a particular player stand out at a young age. Will they continue on that trajectory?
You also need to look at Body Shapes..........ie. potential height, stamina, speed, creativity, mentality to commit, inherited parental genes, a myriad of hidden qualities to assess------------and then take a punt?

Second Rowers of note who played Cup this week:
Jacob Laban, Michael Chee Kam, Mavrik Geyer, Harrison Hassett, Jacob Host, Dylan Egan, Jermaine McEwen, Ryan Matterson, Kelma Tuilagi, Bryce Cartwright, Charlie Guymer, Kurtis Morrin, Joe Chan, Jeremiah Nanai, Jamal Shibasaki and Jaiyden Hunt.

Most of those don't move the needle but there a few young guns who should definitely be looked at. Would love McEwen from Newcastle, he's an absolute gun and stuck behind Lucas, Pearce-Paul and Elliott at the Knights.
Jacob Laban yes please (contracted 25 & 26 at Warriors) & Dylan Egan (contracted 25 at Dragons) is a huge upgrade on Sukkar & Tumeth.

Nanai won't be going anywhere so maybe Kai Pearce-Paul is the one given he is off-contract now for '26. I also wonder whether Adam Elliott is being looked at for his experience, effort and ability to play both lock & edge.

I don't underestimate the task at hand very difficult to assess all the permutations and get it right, but now I don't want Richo to pull the trigger too early and waste a top 30 spot like the last clowns did.
He has gone early with Makasini we will see going forward how good his judgement is with him and the other juniors that get promoted to the top 30 from now on.

Warriors seem to let young players leave if offered better contracts , so Laban might be getable , dogs just got a kid who was released from his contract

Clubs used to quiet often let players go if they had a chance to play firsts elsewhere
Clubs are very reluctant to do so anymore

What you got right there was take a punt.
When I coached an under 13’s side in the shire, a scout for an development squad at Cronulla came and asked me for a kids name who was 6 foot tall and could run, unfortunately he couldn’t pass, tackle read a game and started in the bench in our team.
I had at least 7 other kids in the team that were always going to be better footballers than him
BUT
The recruitment officer said he was just looking for size and speed.
The kid didn’t progress past one season in that squad, and 4 of the kids that missed out on selection (that had the talent) ended up disheartened and gave the game away.

Don't rate Lomax and Addo Carr?
When they move Matto, Lane they'll have some big money to spend.

That young Prop has a bit of go in him, I like what I've seen from him.
Ofahengaue is their Twal / Seyfarth
Lomax and addo carr are gun players, when their heads in the game. Both remind me of Latrell Mitchell. When they're mentally switched on they're world beaters, but idk why they just seem to me to be temperamental, of the two I'd prefer Addo Carr.
