Reports in recent weeks have suggested Olam was in consultation with medical staff at the Tigers and doctors over his future, with the NRL now ticking off on a medical retirement.

It means the Tigers will not have Olam on their salary cap for the remainder of the season and can either bring on a new player, upgrade a development roster player, or forward pay other contracts.

We have to remember this is just medical retirement at this stage. NRL has yet to approve salary cap exemption. Fingers crossed it is.

Olam gone assume its a medical retirement we get cap relief, now perhaps this was the hold up with Taylan and why initially we only offered a cup contract.
Hopefully now we have another open spot and a spot in the Centre's/wing dept we can offer him a top 30 gig this year.
Be nice thing to be announced at 4pm today, Olam announcement out of the way early.

Now we just need Jayden Sullivan to retire.
He is not making much of an impression at Souths, so we will be stuck with his 500k per season contract.

Yeah I can't see Souths wanting to retain him with Brandon Smith coming in as another hooker option plus the form of Humphreys & Cody Walker likely to extend. Our only hope at Souths is if Lewis Dodd is moved on & Bud is retained as the backup half/5-8 but we'd have to subsidise that still.

Hopefully by later this season Bud gets the craving to go to Super League!

I'd say it's just his manager Wok Wright (Black Money) trying to get as good a deal as he can with us. Wok also manages Jarome Luai and with Terrell here as well as Api & Tito, I can't see anything but Taylan in a Tigers or Magpies jersey this season.

Man would love to get some Olam merch. I know he did nothing for our club...

Loved watching him cross the line at Melbourne. Everything else about Melbourne was boring bar Munster (who also plays exciting footy).
