Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Latu can’t keep himself injury free, it’s a massive risk to let Galvin go a year early without someone else apart from Latu.

If Katoa was available I’d be all in for him, I rate him well above Galvin, Latu and any other young half in the NRL.
Not forgetting Sullivan is still on our books in 2026.
Playing alright for the Bunnies at the moment but who knows if he is in there plans for next year.

He's young enough to be able to become a 7.

Though that's not to say how he would be best used, which is clearly as a run-first, dynamic 6.

Luai is the halfback for a while (barring a left-field Adam Reynolds-type signing).

I find it odd people haven't realised that yet.
Absolutely agree, Kelce. As Wiz mentioned, one of Latu's strengths is straightening the attack, creating space for outside runners. He can do this at 6 or 7. I know Luai came here to be 7, but I think possibly his desire was more around being the main man; which he will be regardless of the number on his back. My feeling is they're both best suited at 6, but having won 4 titles, Luai, rightly, gets first choice.

If Katoa was available I’d be telling Luai to activate his get out clause asap and I’d be handing Luai’s contract straight to Katoa. He’s awesome. I reckon he is tracking better than Cleary was at the same age (without an amazing team around him).

I think it may be next week after our game before the bye, sorry didn’t see previous similar post
Nah i think it was a load of shit

Probably the RLW signings

Very disappointing form from Richo if we haven’t actually signed anyone

The recording is about a month old now, if they had been signed they would have been announced well and truly

Completely disagree, it would screw up our cap and roster balance.

You can't have 7-8 props in a 30 man roster with the money that they are all on. Its not fantasy football. That's why its much more important to get a second rower and lock to free up Seyfarth and Twal to play prop.

If we were to get another FG quality prop (with KPP and a lock) that means that Sione, Twal and Seyfarth would all be in reserve grade. That's too much of the cap in grade. They would probably also look to leave, which puts you back to square one and having to replace them. Not to mention it would completely block the path of guys like Kit.
Sione, Twal and Seyfarth would have to show they are better than the new recruit. We have got to aim higher unless you are a happy chappy with the status quo?
If they aren't better, then our KOE side gets an upgrade. I don't think they would be on BIG bucks.
They may have to be shopped around like other clubs do to improve the top 17.

We have other areas of the top 17 that need improvement well before the prop rotation. The four man prop rotation of Pole, May, Sione and Hunt I would say is one of the better 4 man rotations in the comp. Add in Seyfarth and Twal and it’s good depth.

The point being, getting salary cap balance right is crucial. If we want to improve our 17, we need to be investing in a starting centre, second rower and lock (our three weakest starting positions) well before we invest in another prop when we already have quality there.

Our 6th best prop is Seyfarth, but he’s our 2st best second rower… Our 3rd best second rower is Sukkar. Priorities.

Agree ... They keep stalling extending Saxton and trying to offload Mahoney..

Pretty obvious and poor form IMO as he has been talking him up for 12 months and as a Football Manager of a club it should

Katoa is signed long term with the Phins….forget about him

Sorry Milky, but if they were off contract, they'd be OK to announce ... but there just aren't any off contract talented dudes atm.

I agree, but there was once a lot of excitement when we locked down Zac Cini, Tommy Talau and Jock Madden as well.

When you look at the juniors in our top 20 or so players they are Douhie, Galvin, TDS, Seyfarth and Sukkar. We are either trying to replace them or they are trying to leave.

I remember Madge saying when he first came to the club in 2018 there was a huge catchment and the focus would be on developing juniors. It’s now mid 2025 so there’s not been much of a return in almost 7 years.
With Richardson and Marshall in charge, our recruitment has improved dramatically. I have no doubt this is mirrored in the identification, recruitment and retention of our junior players. The southwest as well as our traditional junior areas provide WTs with a significant advantage over many NRL clubs. I am sure the club is doing all it can to allocate additional resources to those areas.

The club has also locked down players of the calibre of Pole, Bula and Da Siva. I have not learnt of TDS leaving our club other than the suggestion he would leave with Galvin. Da Silva comes across as a level-headed young man and I'd suggest he would make a decision about his future independent of the baggage that Galvin carries.

Hoffman when we signed him was touted as a future star centre…we got him and Simpkin at the same time from QLD….both bombed
Jake is a very solid first grader.

He has played 56 first grade games and is still only 23 believe it or not.

I just think as a club we've often had an inclination to grow very creative dummy halves and so the simpler games of up and down hookers, such as Liddle and Simpkin, haven't been traditionally prioritised.

If there was no TDS or Haywood on the horizon, I'd say Jake would still be 1st drop here behind Api.

I hope we get good news soon on new players coming , we should lock down TDS but would love 3 solid players to join us , would be even better before June 30 specially centre , prop , Backrow , Richo probably waiting to bye round to drop a name or 2 but if we were after May there is no other club involved , he should be signed and training already , he looked fairly fit in his interview but he needs contact fitness as well , Hurry up Richo get it done

How about
Sexton for Galvin for 2026
But Sexton is off contract so we get dogs to kick in $ 150 k next year of the Sexton deal let Galvin go early , would Sexton and Luai work .?
I only want players at the club who want to be a Wests Tigers Player

Physically fit maybe. How about mentally? Didn’t he just post recently on Insta “Youz are all dogs?” Whoever “youz” are. Great use of the English language btw.
