If I was the club I would be second guessing how great our pathways players are that came through from that WM 2022 HM side. Da Silva included, has shown promise in first grade but really only Galvin, TDS and to a lesser extent the much younger LL have shown they can grow to be first graders. But due to that great junior run and side, have these boys been pumped up to be a better in expectation then the output.
I guess I’m saying maybe collectively they stood out due to a talented team rather than being talented individuals.
I think Haywood has gotten to his level of reputation on his own doing without having a gun side around him.
Not Many players from Wests squads have the builds.of a contemporary player. We keep getting the fish that John West rejects
Recruitment and retention is a major problem. As is the false narrative that we have an amazing junior nursery. Currently it produces very very few first graders for us. Can godinet be the next Nikora?

We need leaders now ...none of these speccys me tioned are real leaders....i guess theres none available.
Currently we have a pimply 19yo being told to do what he wants and the rest have no idea what hes doing.
Terrell wants to be a leader but he seems to ve running on empty.
Api needs to lift another notch but i think he and Luai feel.hamstrung with Galvins free rein.
If kpp is for next year what other forwards are there and have been mentioned as possibles?
Not much that ive seen lately...frizell..tieg wilson (not a fit imo)...matterson lol.
im expecting disappointment

Where is Hummel Hunt? Is he playing for us in lower grades somewhere. I actually thought he was alright at the knights, not any worse than Naden or Staines in the centres!
Finally!

Unfortunately Hymel retired & is now a real estate salesman....still, he'd probably tackle better than Staines..

If I had to choose between a fully fit Galvin or Latu for 5/8 I'd take Latu any day of the week for what he offers on both sides of the ball.

Jeez I'd love to know why whoever at the WT has formed that opinion. Sometimes being out of sight (i.e. injured) and the quiet one holds a player back.

I just hope Latu gets a solid half a season fully fit with Luai to show what he is capable of.
The same people that saw Brooks as a half...............and Heath Mason as a fullback?

Of the kid… Absolutely he is overrated. He does a lot of good things off the back of being arrogantly competitive and super fit. Both great attributes that will ensure he has a long and healthy career. However as far a pure natural talent goes he seriously lacks so many things
Can’t say I agree with any of that assessment of the kid .. and yes, as you stated, he’s still a kid.

Galvin is overrated imo, im not salty he's going i've just always had that opinion. I admit i have not seen much of Latu but what i have seen ive liked. Galvin is always going to be that player that is just a fitness freak and a competitor, which can get you a long way but i don't think he has the ceiling a lot of the pundits think he has.
I absolutely agree. Its almost impossible to have the opinion that Galvin is overrated without being labelled 'salty'. I still have the same opinion of Galvin now as i have when he was 17....

Galvin is an exceptional footballer. He has the instincts and the IQ as we all know, no one can deny that. However, the issue with Galvin is how it all fits and translates into first grade football, and specifically positionally wise. Galvin is 6ft 4-5, is slow (for a half) and has below par lateral movement and agiliry for a half. Attributes that cant be taught or learnt over time.

Galvin at 19 years old, in a young mans body is a half. By the time he's 22-24 he will not be a half... There are people that say he has a slight frame and he wont build mass etc etc, but you HAVE to build mass to be able to maintain a career in the NRL long term. Its a physically taxing game. Thats without mentioning natural body growth and strength in those early years.

Case in point, look at all the young 6ft2+ halves that have come into first grade in the last 20 years. Wade Graham, Luke Lewis, John Sutton, Curtis Sironen, Ryan Matterson and Matt Burton... Every single one of those players ended up in the backrow except Burton and even his best football wasnt in the halves.

Regardless what you think of him as a coach, Tim Sheens one of the best assessors of talent in the history of Rugby League identified Galvin as a lock.

That aside, Latu was the best junior rugby league prospect ive seen since Turbo. No one has dominated the juniors leagues more than he has in the last 10 years. He even made Feledy look like a prospect. I would honestly bet my house that Latu will be the real deal, provided he stays injury free... There's a reason the senior players wanted Latu starting 6 over Galvin long before the Galvin drama.

Long story short, Galvin is a good footballer but provided Latu stays injury free, this will be the time the WT will benefit in the long term.

BB, how far off do you think Godinet is from competing for a 1st grade spot?

Was supposed to be announced earlier this week but its been held up as it may happen immediately. Just waiting on the Dom Young domino to fall 🙂
The Knights need some good news. They chased King-Togia from the Dragons and believed they had him but he remained at the Dragons playing NRL.

At the link is an article which advises the proposed mid-season transfer of Young was instigated by the Knights and Young's management. Further, that the Knights could not afford to take on Young mid-season and wanted the Roosters to fund his contract for the remainder of the year. Perhaps the WTs taking KPP mid-season will make it happen? The devil in me is enjoying the possibility that signing KPP outright removes the possibility that he can be used in a Galvin move, meaning his manager will have to provide another player or significant cap $.

Bringing him here to mentor Latu for 2 seasons would be an incredible plan especially of Latu had been made aware that he is our long term 7 partner with Jarome .. Reynolds could really take Latu to the next level
Or he could break down in the first couple of games and everybody here champing at the bit to bring him here will lament how badly the front office got it wrong.

A fully fit Latu or the Loch Ness Monster, which one is real?

Sorry to say it but yes you are SALTY! Barring a terrible run of injuries by the time he reaches 23-25 years of age Galvin will be spoken about as an elite NRL player. As a WT supporter I am disappointed he won't be staying long term but my golly gosh gum he is talented.
