Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

1) We have no other choice.
2) you don't know that.
Seyfarth is a team man first, has a great attitude to training and competes every week. Not much to say about him because he gets the job done and his capacity for hard work is a good influence on our younger players. He is a squad player and is renumerated as such which offers the club good value under the cap. If players of more talent arrive, he may move out of the 13. I'm sure he is happy to just be in the 17. If you don't believe me, Marshall has noted these qualities when his re-signing was announced for 2 years in 23. Seyfarth admitted Marshall was his hero so you can imagine he wants to play for him.

Work rate and the capacity to cover for others in defence across the field. Seyfarth is valued by teammates and they want to play with him. Twal is similar. He is obviously valued by the coach.
Twal doesn't cover others in defence. He makes his tackles and his tackles only. Seyfarth does work his ass off for others, though agree with other commenters that he does so with winning any collisions.

Seyfarth covers across the field in defence which you have acknowledged. Twal works the house down.

The fact is he is the 2nd best 2RF in a club, which highlights the bigger problem as to why the coach is picking him. At many clubs he would not be in their best 5-6 2RFs
He is who we have and I am sure Richardson and Marshall are working hard to strengthen our roster including the second row. Sukkar and Seyfarth were not responsible for our loss last night. Both competed well but you cannot afford to play a player short against the Cowboys in the humidity of Townsville for 20mins.

Watch his defence contact, never wins it. He is a massive target for opposing teams. Horrid player

He also has a problem staying in position defending and often drags across left which exposes the right defensively with a shift.

People get caught up about his effort but at times his effort is costly more than it adds value.

The reality is though he is getting picked starting because we lack alternatives. That’s not on Seyfarth. He is a good depth player but as a nrl starter it’s just not his go week to week

'I'm just happy to be in the 17" said no decent NRL player ever.

Twal always puts his hand up for a tough carry in attack. He has minimal impact carrying the ball but can not knock his willingness (his attack is like Seyfarth's defence). His defence however is one of the reasons we get carved up through the middle. It's not his actual tackling, as I said he makes his tackles, it is his lack of work. Doesn't work from marker, doesn't create inside pressure when the attack shifts and doesn't tie in when others in the line slide.

More and more obvious how badly we need a left centre. AD just offers nothing in attack anymore. Teams know if they rush him he doesn't have the speed or skill to evade then
I'm all for Doueihi dropping down in the pecking order, but who else can kick? We can't rely on Api as the alternate. We are already exhausting him with 80 minutes rather than spelling him. We need to recruit / find within our ranks a good player as well as a great kicker. Also wouldn't it be handy to have a back rower that could also take on the hooker role to give Api a break? Remember Ray Brown in the Wests Magpie's in the late 70's before Manly pinched him?

This is professional sport… trying hard and having a great attitude alone isn’t enough … ultimately success is about making a contribution that leads to the team winning games … I would suggest that whilst this has been demonstrated from time to time by Sayfarth, it hasn’t been often enough in my opinion … he is not the only one mind you … but he is the only one I’m reading about here after yet another loss being over hyped up as I eat my breakfast this morning ..

Over hyped as a squad player?

Yes & no.

He was overrated when here & being relied on as our prime outside back.

As the 4th/5th/6th option? He's perfect.
hahaha

But that's what gets me. We have 5th and 6th options.

For instance in Center we have: Toa, AD, Naden, Feledy, Saukuru, Faataape.
...

Is there anyone here who wouldn't rather combine Naden/Feledy's/Faataape's money into a player like Bradman best?

Best being on 700k, and Naden being on 400k..

I’d be happy to have Baby G as a benchy if we had a better run on player, and that’s the problem. Something people seem to forget this close to a loss.
Baby G is the best we have so we have to run with him bcoz of the qualities you mentioned, It comes down to roster management in every position and forecasting wants and needs. We have lacked in that area, Our roster always seems to have holes in it. This year not having a single srf that would start at any other club is hurting us. Not to mention we are also a prop and/or lock light too.
An actual Halfback, not a 6, 3, or 1, who thinks he’s a 7, but an actual halfback, would be nice. We’ve had 2 in 25 years, the first was a Prince and the second (15yrs later), should have been named Judas.
