Wouldn't it be nice if the game had some quality and thorough investigative journalists who could actually investigate some of these? Instead we are lumped with tabloid gossips who only access information by sucking up to those more important than them.

Luai has been much better in has last 2 starts .....but before that he wasn't earning his 1 2 million price tag
For sure Happy. Now, I can't for the life of me think what monumental change could have come about exactly 2 weeks ago ?
It's like the whining neighbours have just moved to, hmmm I don't know . . Bankstown way ? . . . and now he can play his drum kit just the way he likes.
His running game has improved each of the past 2 weeks.

Our defence for the first half of 2018 was the best in 25 years. Hard to think about where we would be now if he didn’t do a runner.
Never seen our team defend like that ever, the beginning of that season we ground out wins against Melbourne and twice against the Roosters, then dropped off cause of our depth and talent. But just shows if you can get a group of regular no frills players to buy in anything is possible.

I hate how much talk there is about it early in the season. Who cares? The week to week comp is outstanding.

It’s just another game now. It’s purely to lure fans of other sports because it’s on mid week. That’s it.
What irks me the most is why in a regular game we get 20 penalties a game and in origin it's 5. Why can't they just ref everything like its origin and kept the whistle in their pocket.

I have a love/hate relationship with how much the powers that be have tried to eliminate the physicality. The game has been watered down to a ridiculous degree. However, I see the logic behind it. CTE is a pandemic among ex athletes. I watched a story on Mark Carroll a not long ago who has shown early signs of it. Paul Green suffered from it, and im guessing a ton of other ex players as well. So I get the reasoning. But at the same time, the game is almost unwatchable. The day they eliminate the kick off is the day I will pack it in. They are gunning to eliminate it cos they hate players running off the back fence into brick walls. They’ll probably never eliminate it outright, rather give teams incentives for going short, the same way they have eliminated penalising teams for drop outs not going 10.
Iv been saying for ages GNR that the trajectory they are going is unsustainable. It is a contact sport where the fittest and biggest compete to be the best. High shots have always been illegal, they happen, I like to think unintentionally but in a contact sport it will happen. These guys are our modern day gladiators who breath competition. Something needs to be done to fix this mess. I can't wait till we get someone in H.Q with common sense who says if mothers don't want their sons and daughters watching blokes fight then watch something else. I'm not for all this Bro culture please don't get me wrong, but let the competitors compete. There has to be a way the league can protect themselves legally while also allowing the players to go as hard as they want. In the past Greene, Spud and the others knew nothing about brain injury. With the info now imo it's up to the players like Graham said its his decision to run the risk of any injury to play the game including brain injury. I don't have the answer but it's nowhere what the N.R.L are doing now esentially wrapping everyone in cotton wool. I want the Biff back, the fighting back, the crunching hits back. I get protecting kickers but I want to see a time where a half runs at a line knowing he is going to get smashed in a tackle, cause the defence have showed him, if you want to run at our line fine but the price your going to pay is getting hit hard, are you willing to pay the toll? All legally of course, but with as much venom as legally possible, let them feel it. Atm they're like koalas protected species.

I don't know the exact penalty count for Game 1 ....but it had to have been close to 10 .....far more than most SOO games

What irks me is the discretion that allows a ref! They can choose when to penalise and to let go. Just penalise according to the rules! The players and coaches will adjust very quickly. Players make errors when under pressure which is normally the result of good play from the opposition.

They will in the Finals as well.
For the NRL tonight has to really showcase the game,
Fast,
Physical,
minimum stoppages,
Promoting the game for the Perth Bears.
I’m sure the Ref has been given his orders.

Does anyone know who the favourites are for that young Warriors back rower? Can’t see him staying with the depth NZ currently has. Heard he is a future gun
Are you talking about Leka Halasima? No way Warriors let him go. The kid will be one of the stars of the game within two years. Plus I see he's signed to a 5 year contract so you can forget that. Unless maybe you're thinking Jacob Laban? He doesn't have the same wraps on him.

Although I do see them having cap issues soon when you look at the quality they have in their team. Barnett, JFH, Capewell and Niukore are all on big wickets. Metcalf is open to negotiations next year and is going to demand $1.2M+ with the way his season is going.

First game was risk free strategy from both teams, who werent well seperated...and was a viewing dud
Need a more open game, and if that means early penaties to establish the parameters,so be it
Dunno whether Klein is smart enuff tbh..probably just worked out WTs arent playing so both teams have a chance..until he decides otherwise
