Our NSW Cup team would have asked more questions of the Raiders last week and as you know, our NSW Cupvteam is not the best.
I’m quietly confident we score at least 2 tries tonight, but as I say, defending when under the pump at Brookvale will be our problem.

Canterbury have taken 18 months to go from shit to great. We’re still wallowing in the mire 10 plus years on.

Anyone expecting big things this year (like a deep run into the semis) have been unrealistic in their expectations

2025 was always a rebuilding season..

The 5 losses in a row whilst not great doesn't factor in the adversity we had to deal with during this run.. I asked copilot to help me explain this, because no one seems to want to listen

Of course not, but actually inching closer to the 8 would be nice. Newcastle got to 11th after their 3 consecutive spoons. I’d be happy finishing 12th this year, but I can’t see that happening now.

No they havent. They took 9 seasons to go from shit to great - 7 missed finals inc. 1 wooden spoon, 6th last year but knocked out first week.

When you finally get your shit together it can be a dramatic turn-around but its very selective to only look back 1.5 seasons.
 
How can canterbury afford some of their blokes in reserve grade- Turpin ,Hutchinson to name two I can recall.
They sure must have a creative accountant- Ian Schubert used to be the nrl auditor once upon a time.
Do salary cap breaches make news anymore or is it hushed up?
Sam Hughes would be an interesting signing if Canterbury ever released him.

They’re backed by a millionaire. They have third party deals coming out of their arse.

1 Needs the agreement of both clubs & both players. 2 Player has to fit the profile of the club.

It is seen as better to release the player, open up a roster spot & cap space & go to the full market.

But that's not good enough. We've been doing that for decades, and we still struggle to full out roster with decent players.
We have ALL of the bargaining power here. TDS could and should see out his contract here. We have to be provided with overwhelming reasons why it's in our great interests to weaken our roster and strengthen a rival's.
That's what it comes down to. We constantly get bullied into strengthening other clubs, to our own detriment, and we languish at the bottom of the issue ladder.
If other clubs see huge value in our asset then to acquire this they need to provide something of equal value in our eyes. Freeing up cap space and going to market simply doesn't work.
If we let talyn depart early our roster is weakened incredibly. Leaves us with no backup hooker, and in a way, no backup halfback as we see Api is our backup. Letting him go without adequate compensation that can help us win games is absolute amateur loser mentality, and if Richo continues us down that road then he needs to go too
