Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Haas is the only prop worthy of $1m.

Tino is not even close to Haas.

Yeo - put him in any other team he will be rubbish. He looks like the cop that gets killed in the last bank raid in Point Break. Pathetic.
With the shortage of top class props, Payne Hass will easily get 1.5 million per season for his next contract, although the Broncos will probably get the right TPD’s and register his contract as 1.2 million per season.

The only middles I would pay $1M for are the truly elite ones - Tino, Haas, Yeo, Tapine, Murray, Carrigan etc. And all those guys offer more than just their playing ability, all of them come with huge leadership qualties. Saying Keon is worth a mill then you're saying he's gonna bring more than just the numbers.
I would agree with you if 2025 never happened, I think he took a massive leap after his transition to prop. He was running for 200 metres with 30-35 tackles a game consistently.

I’d have him on the same tier as Murray and Carrigan personally.

I think he’s the best prop in the game behind Hass, Tino and Tapine.

I reckon it would take a 1 million dollars per season to get Keon interested in potentially signing with us and as much as he would be great to have, I don’t think he’s quite worth 1 million dollars per season.
Yes it’s not our money, but if we are wanting a more than solid 17 to 30 man squad, we should be mindful that overspending on any player will likely jeopardise that from happening.
If we could sign him for 800k than it’s a no brainer get the contract signed, but extremely unlikely we would be in the picture unless we are paying him 1 million dollars per season.
Agreed Vicious he would be a huge help but a million is too much

Keon has publicly come out today saying he’ll be testing the open market come November 1st and has also stated he’s a prop moving forward (hoping to attract the same $ as others)

Rabbits cap surely taking an hit after looking at their roster especially after the Fifita addition.

He can play 80mins at prop similar to Terrell. The combination of those two as our starting middles would be scary.

I think with the recent KPP addition on our right edge, all we’re missing is a dominant middle to partner May and he fits that criteria perfectly. I genuinely believe he’d complete our team. Don’t forget the Richo link with South Sydney and having played alongside Benji as well.

My question to fellow forum members is if you’d guarantee Keon’s signature…. would you offer a $1 million a season deal to get it over the line.

My answer….. YES.
He is the sort of signing we need to be a premiership threat.

Doesn’t make good salary cap sense to go for guys coming off their break out season.

Good clubs find the players that haven’t had theirs yet. Don’t see the value of Keon at $900k odd when we have May who is also a workhorse.

Find a cheaper impact style prop.
100%.

He is a nice to have but not at that money.

Better spending on a back up hooker, lock and probably a fullback.

I’ve already predicted Melbourne Storm will be very interested in a Jahream Bula/Fonua Pole package deal.
I think the puzzle pieces could be coming together. Would not be surprised if the Storm take Bula and we sign Paps for a year or two until our likely juniors come through. My reasoning is WT don’t believe Bula is worth the money and we have two or three potential gun FBs in our pathways plus Attard (possibly). I might be miles off of course.
Additionally, it would not be unlike the Storm to arrogantly see us as some sort of development club to rape and pillage as they see fit.

I think it’s highly likely Paps is going to R360, but if there was even a chance of him signing with us, we would be mad not to at least consider it.

Ryan Papenhuyzen gone from the Storm

Tigers bound or Rugby360?

Interesting scenario

I guess if he doesn't want to play a game between now and October 26, wants to go into a draft in July 26 and then be at one of these locations ( London, Miami, Tokyo, Dubai, Boston, Cape Town, Lisbon, and Madrid.) he may go to R360 but it's even less likely he comes to the Tigers.

Its just a strange coincidence that Bula has not been re-signed and Paps becomes free.

Also, I'm involved with rugby and I have heard of no one being announced as a R360 signing.

I can't see him being brave enough to be the first to put his hand up and say I have signed to R360

If youre late 20s ,have no kids , no real ties to anywhere , and looking to see the world , on the equivalent of 5 mil dollars a year if you were paid that in Aus (2.3m tax free ) for 3-4 years , I mean that’s life changing . Both in experience , and financially .
Is he playing origin ? That ship has sailed as newer shinier toys come off the production line every year . He’s not playing for Aus either . He’s won a premiership, and plenty of individual wards . I say it’s a no brainer . I’d definitely do it .
You can say he’s ruining his legacy , but seriously , RTS never did , Israel Folau never did , Sonny Bill never did . In 10 years his career will be properly evaluated . But plenty of people will scream ban him for life for the next foreseeable future .
Meh .. he can laugh at us whilst he cruises around sipping mojitos on a tube at Atlantis in Dubai .

It was rumoured R360 have offered him 1.5 million per season and being tax free, no NRL club can compete if it’s just money and/or lifestyle he’s after.
I assume the Perth Bears would be very interested in him and would probably offer more than any other NRL club.
If he wants to return to Sydney I would imagine the Bulldogs, Sharks and Dragons would all be very interested.
If negotiations with Bula have broken down we might also be interested.
Would he choose to play with us if the contract value was the same or similar to what the Bulldogs, Sharks or Dragons are offering ? Unlikely, but who knows the attraction of playing for his junior club might be appealing?

Or a World Cup for the Wallabies
