Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Perth Bears will finish higher up the NRL competition ladder than we will in 2027, mark my words.
Nah .. !! .. useless .. great player but put him infront of people and turns into a bubbling mess .. Maninga couldnt lead sheep to water .. when he was the QLD coach .. he did nothing except be the face of the sport (Cam Smith and MIchael Hagen his assistsant coach did all the coaching) .. 👎

I’ll be surprised if they are still even in the comp by then.
I'd be surprised if they are still in the comp in 2028 - the graft, corruption and mismanagement up there is incomparable. Very few non-PNG footballers are going to go there - irrespective of the tax free status of the money they might earn. If you're married you won't take your family and if you're single then you're on your own.

True but as an expat who lived there for 3 years it is a magnificent place with so much potential and, there is the availability of daily flights to Cairns for a refreshing restoration of normalcy eg driving with doors unlocked and windows down and general ability of being able to walk around without senses on high alert. 🙂 Most of the people are generous, kind and proud- its the damn rascals and the wantok system that causes so much angst.

They can have Toa now if that helps them
I believe he was playing with a bad injury but prior to that was one of the most penetrative centres in the NRL. He needs to work on his defence and especially communication with his winger. That is so important in defence yet the right side pairing were embarrassed a couple of times due to a lack of communication in the backline. That is why Latu Fainu is so important to our side because he organises the defence and makes outstanding decisions for a player so inexperienced.

TDS as quoted in this article

“We sat with them many times and said we wanted to stay, but at the end of the day, if you choose to go with Api, then we will have to look elsewhere for my development to become a football player."
So where’s the demand? Sounds a lot similar to Coby Black.

The playing group is alright. I’d be interested to see how they go with an established coach who has runs on the board.

Benji is an established coach. It's not 2023 anymore.

Benji hasn't had that first bit career defining coaching success yet but it's at least fair to say he knows his trade by now. I don't think there'll be anything missing from his coaching program in 2026 that he would have picked up by coaching a NSW cup team prior to taking this job. He handled the Media glare throughout the Galvin situation really well and I doubt there are many rookie coaches who could've done the same.

Let's also remember it took Brad Arthur until the end of his 4th season season to get the Eels into the top 8. Ricky Stuart only made the finals once in his first 5 seasons at the Raiders. Our last 3 full-time coaches have 9 premierships to share between them for good measure.
