Sad that the first thing to happen when they regain control is to make a knee jerk reaction to try and appease the crowd as opposed to what’s best for weststigers. Benji was not in danger of being taken by another club and has said that he didn’t deserve it yet. I really want him to be a success but this type of decision is why their governance has holes in it

Not sure it was a 5 year deal. Thought Benji still had 2 more seasons and the deal was for a further 3 years. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few clauses relating to performance allowing the contract to be terminated that suit HBG and or Benji.

It wasn't T&T it was development, don't know why.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't development players able to play NRL these days from Round 1.

If that is correct then that may explain why a Development deal might make sense.

Someone would take Hunt in his current shape, especially if he brains it in the trials but at that point why would you let him go anyway.

Hunt looks powerful and pretty lean for a big man. He has much to offer and fits within our squad. Love his work.

I am not sure if HBG are smart enough to have performance requirements or not?
If this has all been a calculated ploy to get rid of Richo then yes. But after the last decade I don’t think so. I reckon it was a knee jerk reaction and Benji’s manager would have been rubbing his hands together with anticipation of leveraging a long term secure contract for himself. Sorry I mean his client of course.

Maguire did not take us to any spoons at all.He had little salary cap to work with because Cleary had signed duds to long term contracts on big money.We had a crap board (which has now sadly been resurected) and terrible administration.Madge has been succesful at every coaching appointment he has had EXCEPT with US.

Therein lies the problem still. Lets say there was something there from Richo, I don't want to see them wriggle out of this idiotic episode, when the action they took was the real issue.

There is a lot to be said about HOW you solve a problem. That's where leadership and experience start to show through.... or the lack of it.

I think Madge’s record with us was pretty good considering what he had inherited. As you say, there was a few $m sitting in the grandstand, but we had only one less win in 2019 and were a better attacking side.
Cleary had autonomy and cap space, while Maguire was continually being micromanaged by a board which wanted more say. All this and during COVID 19.
