Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Most reporters had Bula looking at his options prior to the Wests Ashfield/Richo BS. I doubt the deal was anything more than very early negotiations, yet alone 95% done.
Wests Ashfield certainly haven't helped our chances of retaining him but i think it is simply shit slinging to say that it is their fault he leaves, if he in fact does.
Absolutely this was the case.

I saw Phil Gould last night. At a Chinese restaurant. He was waiting for takeaway as I was leaving. I asked him if the Bula rumours were true and he responded “no comment”. Make of that what you will.

Rubbish - they definitely have a part to play in it but Richardson had 12 months to get the deal done and all we ever heard was that it was close to being done. If Richardson as the great saviour as some on here seem to think couldn't get the deal done over 12 months then it was pretty obvious that Bula and Moses had already selected the exit door.
"Definitely have a part to play" - they are the biggest handbrake on the club and the very reason why we are stuck at the bottom of the ladder. How long do people have to hear from every person who knows something about success that "winning starts from the top" before WTs supporters still making excuses and deflect from the leadership issues, believe it.
Richardson is just another victim in the circus - personal credibility in his field but not good enough for WTs. Lasted one season - was never going to solve the rot that has built up over number of years and definitely can't be held responsible for the lack of confidence players and managers have with this club.

Managers and players can see the history of what happens to players at this club with or without Richardson. Until the governance structure is overhauled - the negotiation process for this club who ever is the CEO/ coach will be challenging because we have no credibility when it comes to assembling a successful football team and there are too many other clubs that do it better.

Richardson didn't realise he had a bomb under him with a timer on it.... And the options only expired Nov 1st. Not 12 months.

Which other clubs has Richo failed at? He precided over some of our best signings and resigning. People don't see him as a saviour. But there is a distinct difference in track record to him vs HBG and people are just looking at that data.

People who are giving a pass to HBG here don't understand how much they impact the image of the club with their rubbish. Agents will use it as leverage. Especially Moses. I'd say they've added $100-$200k to Bula or a Jerome style exit option with their antics to get it done.

the Fainus at the very least are going nowhere . Source .. their own managers mouth in an interview I’m paraphrasing but it was basically “ Samuela wants to be the best back rower in the game , and I don’t think he will ever leave the tigers .
Everyone tells what you want to hear while it suits them. I just hope he’ll be here for the length of his contract.

I'm not giving HBG a pass - they are a blight on the club. I'm saying there was a lot more at play in Bula's decision that what happened over the last month. A good operator would have had Bula tied up well before Nov 1 if Bula wanted to stay.

Bula and his manager like every other player who is considering their future look at more than the people doing the talking when committing to this club.
The people doing the talking rarely last but the back office remains as do the poor results.

Maguire was never going to get another gig again after failing at this club some said.

Part of Bulas problem is the expectation created by the $800k(Sheens?/$900k one year option....we need him for a minimum 3year deal, and hes just not worth either of those figures the next year or two
Moses' dilemma is all other clubs think exactly the same

New CEO thrown in the deep end left to negotiate a deal on behalf of a club where the board is no longer operating under the same conditions that it was previously and no one is sure what direction they are pulling in after intervention from the NRL, and you wonder why Bula hasnt committed yet?
Isn't it obvious? Who wouldn't be reconsidering their options. The knee jerk reaction to resign Benji fools no one - we have see the historical payouts for coaches who don't see through their contracts at this club.
Api and Papalli never even got to play under the coach they signed to play for.
We can pretend it's business as usual but the reality is it is almost impossible to trust this club to get it right.

I’m sure this has been said before, but Jack Attard was not only signed because he’s an excellent prospect (Australian Schoolboy), but also because the writing was on the wall with Jahream, his manager, and the overpriced $900k contract.

I would sign Connor Tracey for a couple of years while Jack progresses if negotiations go south.

Who knows, I could be wrong, and Shaun might get the deal done that Richo couldn’t, but at $900k his stats don’t warrant the pay check.

Reece is on $1M and is the same age, but they’re light years apart in terms of skill and x factor.

I laugh too whenever we make a statement to the media about player retention. It generally blows up in our face.

Wests Tigers confident Bula will re-sign before season start
