At the 14.00 min mark a Q re the Bula signing progress. He gave a very wishy-washy answer. The key for me was the constant references to Benji and Gallant when it comes to recruitment overall and in Bula specifically, that "Benji is confident". He never at any stage in the entire podcast referenced his own negotiation skills or expertise in recruitment and retention, or alluded to his involvement in the process. He gave no sense of purpose or capability to get the job done. But nothing - just fluff. It was almost as if he was saying, "Hey folks, I wasn't involved in this process, so don't blame me if it falls over... but Benji is confident".

As for his being open to members etc, it's been 3 weeks since the Benji announcement and no update on the site since then. Not even a Merry Christmas or Happy New Year message! That's being out of touch from the get-go!

Richo stepped down 8th dec
SM appointed interim 12 dec
BTR video was 16th or 17th
Club closed for christmas the end of that week

Hed been in the job less than a week

As for the Season Greetings stuff....its all mainly on instagram now...not much of anything on the official site

Come the end of the day, on current form I think we probably look better with either Tracey or Kennedy at the back, but as others have said Bula in the longer term has probably got more upside but has not yet earned the right to demand the kind of upgrade money that is written into his contract, the fact that he has a scumbag piece of shit for a manager takes a bit of the gloss off as well.

Bula has everything the top fullbacks have except someone to put him through gaps. Put him in Melbourne and see how he goes. I'd rate Ponga's last two seasons as very ordinary. Take him out of Newcastle and see how he goes.

Am certain he's more than OK..he told me personally of course...
.but when he wakes up one day he will realise he's given up what cld have been $900k or so annually for the next 4 or 5 years that cld secure him forever..he's 27
He will never get that back if he walks away
We've all done shit jobs which we wld have preferred not to,but you've got a relatively short earning period,particularly in the nrl

Personally I think Gould wld prefer Bula..hes on the up vs Papi who is past his best buy date
Think we will end up with papi or Tracey unless.....Makasini shows sufficient athletism to handle the 1 jersey for 27.
Same size as Latrell..maybe a little bit bigger..but Latrelle is quite an athlete although lazy and attitude problems

Then why have an official site? Sorry, I agree about timing; it was tight. But this is a professional business outfit, not the local Sunday School volunteer club for kids who just want to participate.

Makes sense but you never know

Yes we have all done shit jobs

But his job isn't shit and he has also done will at it

If he is comfortable with what he has done than so be it

He may not need to play professional sport again

You really think he quit the game with only 6 months worth of financial security? He’s been a regular first grader for 6 or 7 years. Could have saved a fortune in that time.

Mate, what is with the condescending vitriol?? No you have not and no i will not, please miss me with the passive aggressive snark, IN my “opinion” the methods and motive and agenda behind Richos exit expose and identify bigger concerns for the Club in general, as well as dismissing an operator as experienced and capable as Richo as well. It’s not just that we lost him but why , and the why of it is the real story..

I see what you are saying, but that was a totally different club back then in terms of management etc… but who the eff knows at this point, might be Benji Marshall, head coach and CEO/recruitment manager by that stage ? 🤪

Bula is still with us for 26 and can’t we still keep him on an option for 27
That said it seems all are keen to get a longer term deal done, I Moses won’t make it easy though
I’m not too down on Bula

Well....theres stuff on insta and FB....they can do their own stuff there...the official sites are NRL generic
