Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Who is Lorax?
Dr. Suess character?

In any case:
1. Lomax walked out on a four year contract after one season. He also quit St. George with two years left there to join Parramatta because he didn't want to play on the wing.

2. Parra said "Fine. Go chase the big bucks in R360, but unless we agree to it, you can't play for another nrl team until your contract with us would've expired."

3. Lomax signed that agreement as terms of his contractual release.

4. Parra uses the money they now had to get Pezet for a year, or whoever else to cover the loss of him and Brown.

5. R360 delayed by... probably forever.

6. Lomax and his manager realise they've fked up big time.

7. Tough shit Lomax.

It's not Parramatta's fault he chased money and it didn't work out how he wanted.

Imagine if this were a tigers' player trying this.... I'd have even less sympathy for him, and right now that's sitting right at zero.

Reports are Parramatta told Lomax they don’t want him back.
If that is proven it would mean they are fighting tj block him playing elsewhere, but don’t want him themselves, that is very petty.
No, it's not. Enforcing a legally binding contract is not petty. It's what professional clubs do.

We just don't have a clue because we're so unprofessional and just rollover when under pressure

That is the reason PVL is on the side of Melbourne Storm.
Why should a player be forced to go to another code just because the club he was contracted to is being petty and doesn’t want him playing rugby league at all ?
Both low clubs the Eels and Bulldogs.
Because those are the terms he agreed to in order to be released from Parra.

It's very simple stuff.

He is breaking a legal contract, the Storm are trying to pressure Parra to let him break his contract, and the storm have tried to coerce the NRL to support their crimes.

Whether parra wants him or not is completely irrelevant. He quit, they moved on and spent his cap space, they can't just undo all that because he's a complete and utter Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon.

If found guilty of blackmailing the NRL there could be severe repercussions for the Storm.

I hate Parra as much as anyone, but Lomax and the stormy are 1000% in the wrong here.

From now on he will be known as Lorax

If he was in Ron Massey Cup or a train and trial you'd be happy to keep him. As a top 30 player he just doesn't have it. You can't carry him and the likes of Seyfarth in your top 30.

Sometimes I think we get caught up in unrealistic expectations of how good depth should be,especially when you have been the worst club for 15 years. Sukkar is 21 years old, never gets dominated when carrying the ball landing on his front, makes his tackles and runs a hole. Thats the definition of decent depth. Yes he needs to get better, but at 21 he will. More than happy to have him starting regularly in State Cup. Solid back up.

He wishes he was anywhere near as good as Eisenhuth. Sukkar couldn't make more than 5m in a hit up unless his opponent falls over.

Show me one hit up in the NRL Sukkar has been dominated. Your making it up BB as you dont see a potential gun player in him. I dont see a gun player in him either, but what i do see is a youngster who came off the bench a couple of times when we were getting pumped and he looked our best defender as the others all scambled like amateurs. That alone is enough for me to have him as 5th option backrow, which is where he is placed. Think about that, hes our 5th option. More than happy with that

Be interesting what is actually in the contract release terms.
Guessing that there’s no direct dollar value of compensation or value of player swap. Really don’t care but which way this goes unless tigers get something out of it.
What really irks me is the amount of money that will be spent to obtain an outcome. Should be included in the cap imo.

It will be very interesting to see how TS goes tonight as he was solid without being spectacular in 2025, but with that experience now under his belt, he could be a much improved player in 2026.
His size and mobility is not an issue it is just up to his mental application and how willing he is to rip and tear.
Similar story with our other young edge back row recruit in Ethan Roberts.
They both have the tools and are now at a good age to have break out seasons if they are prepared to rip and tear.

These Storm texts don’t look good for the NRL. I’m interested to know when they were sent, and then when PVL came out saying how it was important for Lomax to stay in the NRL. Corrupt assholes.
I only just now read the articles after seeing your comment. [This word has been automatically removed]ing wild that NRL would get involved at the behest of the Storm. Sure I hate Parra but I hate Storm that much more. Great footy team for many years but absolute [This word has been automatically removed] of a club.

It looks terrible for Lomax and Storm but we need to remember this is his managers doing more so Lomax or Storm.

This is a perfect chance for PVL and RLPA to make a stance on player managers & those within the mgmt company (to prevent new companies or indirect behavior). His Manager dealt with union, dealt with parra on clauses & release, dealt with parra on coming back then dealt with Storm (didn’t even approach any other team).

This is a very different scenario.
The Eels have replaced him and no longer have room for him within their salary cap.
How can you honour a contract if you have no room within your salary cap to honour that contract ?
If the Eels left enough cap space to allow him to return and expressed a willingness for him to play with them in 2026 I would then be in agreement that he needs to honour his contract with them, but they have moved on and can no longer fit him in their salary cap.
Yes he was going to R360 and it never eventuated, you can’t ban him for something that didn’t happen.
This being the case they are now fighting to make him sit on the sidelines.

You can't blame this all on the manager. Lomax is complicit in this. Sure the manager could be saying he'll sort it but it is not as if Lomax was unaware he was contracted. If as you say his manager has then actively seeked out the Storm and no others. Why do you think that is? Surely because that is where his client has expressed he wants to play.

Lorax didn’t sign or play a game for R360.
You can’t ban someone for something they was going tj do but never did.
The Eels have not even mentioned wanting Lomax to play with them in 2026, I doubt they even have the cap space to now fit him in even if they wanted to.
That being the case why are they fighting to make him have to sit out and not play for any NRL team, it’s just petty.
PVL doesn’t like petty bull crap and justifiably so.
If PVL wants him to play so badly maybe he should setup a one off draft so all clubs get a chance - why should Melbourne win out just because Lomax is a lying piece of shit.

Eels didn't push him out of the club they released him at Lomax' request but did so with a non-compete clause. Why should they need to keep space for him to return?
He is not banned and Eels aren't seeking to ban him. They simply want compensation, that they deem fair to relinquish him from his non-compete clause. Storm have not offered that.

He reportedly told the eels that he no longer wished to play in the NRL. They have rightly said there are other options outside of NRL that he could look at. Melbourne aren't the good guys in this - they keep whingeing that parra won't look at their compensation offer but parra have put forward other forms of compensation such as like for like player swap or taking one of the duds such as matterson and the storm refused. So what do they do - go sooking to PVL.
