Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don’t do body language interpretations…

I genuinely am hoping he is not training with the team and that you have heard that from a genuine source or observed it yourself and not a gut feeling…your use of the term “I’m pretty sure “ doesn’t fill me with confidence…

Training or not , He still continues to get paid by the Wests Tigers in the meantime …by the end of Feb he has already been paid a third of his contract for 2026
Here is the latest news story that @Vicious is referring to. Bird wasn’t at the army camp either.

Yes mate …I believe I was the one that initially posted that item here ,..nothing about his training at WT though I can recall…

Thankfully he missed the camp …were you surprised to still see him at the season launch if he is out the door at anytime soon?

Bit of a surprise given he missed the camp. But I guess as you say, he’s still a contracted player until his release paperwork is stamped so the club decided to have him along for PR.

Surprise he even wanted to attend if the only thing holding up his departure are “visa” related issues …maybe both parties were somehow obligated for him to attend as he is still employed

I’ve seen over the years though these kind of player offload deals fall over …hopefully that won’t be the case as he looks a permanent NSW Cup player here in 2026 if he remains

Well we are a very generous club, helping players and officials out financially is our specialty, you should know that by now.

You keep sating he gets dominated in attack. Saying it over and over again doesn't make it true. I've asked you to give an example of it and you cant
Don't you know by now that bb does not have a clue about football players. He knocks wests at every opportunity. He's either a troll or just dumb. My. money is on the latter. PS. His English is not great either.

Former NRL winger Matt Utai is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot twice in an attack near Greenacre on Tuesday morning. Utai was shot in his stomach and in his leg and is currently in critical condition.

An SUV was found later set ablaze, with police investigating the crime scene and the torched car.

Emergency services were called at 6:00am to rush to Greenacre, with reports of a shooting, where Utai was then transported to the hospital.

I wonder what Matty has got himself into after footy .. ??
It’s his son that’s into the wrong crowds … hope Matty pulls through okay

Parramatta are grubs
they held Stef and played him 5 minutes one game prior to coming over to tigers.

If Parramatta want Lomaz they shoukd have to take him back (oh wait they have spent the cash on pezet etc)
They can't stop him from playing at Storm if they themselves are not going to pay him or take him back (or cant fit him in).
That seems to be a restriction of trade
Lomax signed a contract, of his own accord, with restrictions on where he could play.
On his shoulders.. reap what you sow.

When you’ve been here longer than a season you might get the lay of the land a bit better.

Sukkar was a prop for all of his season in Ball - kicked goals also.

What he said was right, so instead of running your lips with reckless abandon - make sure you can back it up.

Actually no, what he said was wrong. One Sg Ball season which is about 8 games at prop. That hardly proves he eas right. In fact its thw opposite, it proves what he said is wrong. So thanks for proving that

I don't think the fullback position is the embarrassment of riches it once was.

Turbo and Gutho are past it, Ponga's coming off a lisfranc, Edwards isn't getting any younger, Drinkwater can't catch a cold, Papenhuyzen's gone and Latrell's been moved to centre.

Walsh is the best in the league and Teddy sits beneath him, that man is ageless. the rest all have an assortment of elite attributes, including Bula, but don't have the all-round game that those two do.
I'd put Teddy above Walsh mainly due to consistency. - Teddy produces year after year. Walsh while being quite a talent has yet to show that he can keep that level over a full season.

I think sentiment is clouding your judgement. He's like a Temu Twal. Tries hard, good bloke but gets dominated in attack and defence. We have Twal already secured, there's some value in a quiet worker. We don't have space for another one.

He wouldn't make any other team's top 30 at this stage. We signed Geyer and Roberts so we wouldn't need to rely on him. He's not terrible, but he's not a first grader. See how he goes in Cup. Hopefully he can give time to youngsters line Godinet who could but shouldn't be rushed into Cup anytime in the next few months.
Think it's pretty harsh to stay he wouldn't make any other teams top 30. He hasn't set the world alight when he's played first grade but he's shown he can hold his own defensively with a 93% tackle efficiency (pretty impressive for a rookie tbh). Do I think he should be in the 19 every week? definitely not but if one or two injuries occur you know that you can call on someone who's had a bit of first grade exposure and can make his tackles while honing the attacking side of his game in reserve grade. If he's happy to stick around on a modest contract on the lower end of the roster then someone like Sukkar is of great value to the club.
