Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

A NSW Cup forward pack of all young players never works and is not good for their development.

Seyfarth should be there and I'd take him over Knight anyday. Hunt could also be there.

At full strength the way i see our reserve pack is

8. Hunt
9. Hope/Haywood
10. Kit
11.Sukkar
12.Geyer
13. Seyfarth

14. Roberts
15. Saukuru

I think that pack should match the opposition most weeks and get is up the ladder with Jock at 7 and some strike outwide .

Hunt and Seyfarth will be in our top 19 and unlikely to play much NSW Cup.

Hopefully the scheduling is decent and those who dont get on in the NRL can still play reserve grade that weekend. Obviously sometimes is wont be able to happen
Its not friendly at all...maybe 3 or 4 weekends that number 18 & 19 could play for wests if not getting a run in firsts that weekend

Let’s be honest, 1 will be an outside back who you plan not to play and you can let them play in cup. The other is a forward which we 100% should rotate who that 19th man is

Typical NRL lunacy.
However some having the view it will be the same players named at 18 and 19 are way off. Benji will most certainly rotate it
I agree with that, but we are likely to have 1 or 2 forwards our injured most weeks which would mean our core group will probably play plenty of NRL unless dropped due to poor form, or someone below is playing too well to ignore.
We certainly do not want to be playing with players who are busted as we did with Fonua Pole last season.
I am happy with Charlie Murray, Kit Laulilli, Tony Sukkar and Lachlan Broederlow all as possible middle forward call ups, I just think an older battle hardened prop would be good amongst them as an onfield voice and bodyguard playing mainly NSW Cup.
I think we initially may have signed Bunty for that role, but it sounds like he has exceeded expectations and will likely be a regular part of our NRL squad.
If we stick with what we have, someone will need to step up and be our NSW Cup forward leader and a big body such as Vaka Aho might be able to assist, but it can be dangerous having too young of a NSW Cup forward pack and most NRL clubs have a few experienced forwards at this level for this reason.
We need to learn lessons of the past and realise success at NRL level is not just about purely focusing on the NRL team and forgetting to ensure success at NSW Cup level which in turn creates a good development environment for our emerging players.

Agree, Benji is going to have to manage the bench players well and make sure they are getting enough game time to stay match fit. I guess some rotation will be required if they are not getting enough NSW cup time

I’m saying we could play the back in cup and the extended 6 man bench. Unless benji is on something we don’t need the back playing regular first grade via sub barring an injury
you misundestood my post the nrl & koe cup draws arenrt compatible....eg: round 2 we play at LO 3pm... reggies at lidcombe 2pm same day
rd 3 both at gosford reggies before WTs
rd 4 same in NZ
rd 5 same v parra at parra reggies first
etc

Well they need to have alook at this and allow teams to play their 18th and 19 man, or at least their 19th man before the NRL game if the club so chooses. I see no reason why somwone like Skelton couldn't play KOE cup then be 19th man straight after

Hunt should fill that gap.
I’m predicting a fitter and more motivated Royce Hunt will play mainly NRL and rarely if ever play NSW Cup.
As I’ve said before I think we are in a good place with our middle forward depth for our NRL team, just a little worried we may lack experience and toughness for our NSW Cup team which we desperately need to have a successful season.
