Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

That 38 minutes was over multiple stints in a game with unlimited interchanges. I'm not writing the bloke off, particularly after all the preseason puff pieces but I don't have high hopes for him.
That is after initially being pleased that he signed thinking he would give us 20 minutes of power.
Ive written him off. Hes the sort of player that might have been good 20 years ago, but the game is too fast for blokes like him these days.

Bulla needs to be sorted prior to our first nrl game , I worry his manager will use tactics mid season and screw us and Benji again , Galvin style , sign up or we go find a replacement , T May talks about his chats with Richo about tiger for life , get it done he wants to stay , this one would be easy even if he requested his other brother to come on board a deal could easy be done , it don’t mean he plays nrl straight up he will need to earn his spot just like tiny did , the money would not be huge to bring him in and Terrell also won’t break the bank , We need to get these done asap and have a smooth season even if Bulla says I’m not signing yet we say we find your replacement then , and no free rides for fullback either

Not the same. Bula doesn't have a contract next year. Luai has a contract for a further 3 years with options.
I'm not sure why there is so much angst. We can exercise the club option and keep him here if we want and we have provided two alternate options for him to consider that the club blieves reflects his value. We also have a couple of young fellas applying pressure from below.

IF Bula was playing out of his skin at the end of last year and put in a decent performance in the trial I may be a little more concerned.

We have provided options for Bula and he hasn't taken them up (yet) so we need to be working on what the future looks like without him. There aren't teams jumping over Moses to make offers for his services so that tells you how well he is rated outside of Tigerland.

Anytime one of our top players comes up it creates angst because we just don’t seem to be able to retain our best talent like most other clubs seem to do.

Apart from two pretty uninspiring contracts, we also haven’t seen anything achieved under our new CEO either.

This contract has an important feel about it to me.

Not so much angst Jolls just a pain in arse distraction to be honest for me.

Just annoying that it looks like it won't be done before kick off and it could affect his form, signs already there from the trial.

Just gets on your goat, ha that's an old idiom.

Locking Bulla up on our option would be a waste of money if he doesn’t want to be here , that would also piss mosses off so you would expect a shit show mid season or earlier , 2 - we have offered Bulla 2 more options and he has not taken either , this tells me something is off , Bird is gone , so if the extra cash was needed it’s there , Dogs and Dragons for me are the options mosses is working on I feel , no intel just what’s been said around the joint even our CEO mentioned it , other clubs looking / chatting with Bulla , he needs pressure put on now and get it done either way , and his trial form was bog average and did not earn him a start , he was looking like he had zero gusto in him

It's up to Bula.

There is a FB spot open at the dogs and honestly, this wouldn't surprise me.

He looked pretty happy at the Tigers Golf day….

This is the key point - we have already told Bula what he is worth to us and the offers are on the table. I expect that Moses has politely declined, without knocking them back saying he will "get back to us" while he drags this on looking for a bigger payday.

I agree that this contract is important, but probably for different reasons. If we let Moses dictate terms and bend out cap out of shape for a player that is not performing to that level we are back to the same paying overs for average talent (although Bula is potentially slightly above average). If we stick to our guns we send a clear message to Moses and the market.

We could also, in a pinch, withdraw the offers, take up the club option, and start developing Attard/Brooks/Tino as his replacement and transition them in over 2027 and "force" Bula's (and Moses') hand. I doubt this is how it will play out - but it is a hard ball option that we have at our disposal and one we could very well force action with should we choose to.

Shaun has kept the closed shop line in relation to contract negotiations and I assume that Moses is on a tight leash regarding any leaks (or the offers are off the table and we will take up the option). I expect that is was us that leaked the two contracts on the table to apply pressure to Bula and Moses and that they are banking on form to influence other offers and up the payday.

I agree with everyone that it would be great to have this put to bed; but, Bula is not worth bending the cap out of shape as there are many elements of his game that need improvement for us to be justifying big $.
