Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sorry Mr Shines, it wasn't the "Door" that said anything, it was Billy Johnstone in a night match at Belmore Oval. A scrum was set and the alleged comment was made. The Falcon stood up in the scrum and launched into Johnstone. Johnstone as you may remember could really fight and it was on (both were sent off). The Falcon tore his own Jersey off and was greeted on the side line by his Coach, Mr George Piggins (another who could really throw them). The falcon brushed the Coach and proceeded to redecorate the Change Room.

Yeah Benny's incident with Mario was that he bit his own arm then showed the ref and said Mario did it. Great player Benny, the greatest hooker of all time, but a low person

The incident Im referring to is well known between Fenech and Elias and I first heard about it 40 years ago …( and several times since) you are likely referring to a separate incident ( or maybe Johnstone even said similar) …its not like Fenech only had one blue during his career.. he was an absolute lunatic on the field and always punching on when he played at Souths

Wests Tigers’ juniors mass exodus reveals brutal development truth as team enters new era

After losing big names like Lachlan Galvin, Tallyn Da Silva and the Laulilii brothers, the ugly truth of having a deep development stable has been revealed for the Wests Tigers.

Six NRL debuts, inaugural signings of expansion clubs, and a pathways powerhouse which is producing first grade talent, left, right and at the centre of south-west Sydney.

Some had considered the Wests Magpies 2022 Harold Matthews premiership winning side as one of the strongest under-age footy sides of all time.

But while the Wests Tigers are seemingly on the up this year, a lot of the juggernaut of the side out of Campbelltown has ended up - or is about to be - playing rugby league elsewhere.

The biggest name of them all, Lachlan Galvin, was headhunted to be the Bulldogs main man. Tallyn Da Silva left for Parramatta for a better chance at first grade.

Laulilii brothers Kit and Luke will play a role in the Perth Bears’ inaugural team, while Nathaniel Gallagher moved to Perth to be a part of the Western Force.

Along with Jordan Miller, Heath Mason and William Craig, the Tigers looked to be set for the future. But the brutal truth is that you can’t keep them all.
That won’t stop clubs from trying though.

Off the back of an upgrade to Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Tigers interim CEO Shaun Mielekamp has made the pathways a high priority for the club.

“The pathways are a complicated thing,” Mielekamp tells this masthead ahead of their first game in Campbelltown in 2026.

“The first thing you need to do is develop talent, which is what we have been doing.
“And as we continue to build what is the Wests Tigers way and the brand, you will continue to see more Wests Tigers pathways players fully committed and stay a part of the club.

“I think this is something we have a long way to go to get right. But it takes resources, quality coaches, and the upgrade to our stadium is the first step to get this right.”
Kit, who played lock in the 2022 premiership winning team, has remained in touch with most of the members of the side, even the ones who have given up on their NRL dream.

Both Kit and Luke are on their way to Western Australia to join Mal Meninga’s Perth Bears.

Kit has a deep passion for the steady stream of talent to come out of south-west Sydney.

“It’s a massive credit to the club on how many juniors have come through,” Kit said.
“You obviously can’t keep them all, but its going to keep growing.

“I thought we would be the last crop of players through this area, but the best is yet to come with guys like Christian Taupau-Moors and Phoenix Godinet.

“They’re going to be really strong.”
