Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Is Bula going to the dogs? You wanted us to wait and prove his worth but all that’s done is give Gus time to sign him now.
I don’t know whether Bula is staying or going, but Benji has publically stated he wants to keep him with us long term, so you would assume that means a very fair and reasonable offer has been made.
Without knowing, putting two and two together you would think we have likely offered him as high as 900k per season to stay. If that figure is correct and he wants more than that, I personally would not be going any higher, 900k per season is more than fair for a player of Bula’s ability.

Why does Gus want him then ?

Whether Gus wants him or not, I very much doubt the Bulldogs will offer him 900k or more on a long term deal.
IF they do want him I think they will be offering less and I don’t think they would lock him in tha long term deal either as it’s quite obvious the jury is still out on whether or not he will become a regular match winning 1 million dollar per season player.

Haha you’ve completely changed your tune now.

You doubt a lot of things…

but here we are … going to war with the Buldogs again over a player you have scorned for this past year

If they get him … I hope it works out just as well as the last one tjey poached

Bula is much more chance of being a success with us than he would with the volatile Bullgogs.
It will be career suicide if he signs with them.
The more I see of Attard and Brookes, the more comfy I get that they will be at the very least on Bula’s level within a year or two, so I am not worried whatsoever if Bula decides to leave.
And please do not make judgment on whether Turuva is a capable fullback replacement or not based on our upcoming game against the Sharks. I hope we can somehow find a way to win, but everything is stacked against us and it’s a game which would have been very hard to win even if we were full strength.

Whilst we probably need to win a few more games to satisfy some of the more sceptical/scarred fans and not taking into account any HBG incompetence that may be visible to players and not us. I would say we are now a club on the rise and a real option when it comes to players looking to be developed, play for a coach that seems to have a great connection to the squad and have a shot of winning a premiership. As such I would say that Benji and co need to stick to their guns and offer players 60% what they are worth to us and 40% what they could get elsewhere. It needs to be a combination of both to really work as we are still only really at the begining of a resurgence and a few key players leaving could have us crashing back to earth. The good news is it has shifted from 100% what they would need to even consider playing for us plus 20% on top.

The WT have decided to make offers to Bula … these offers have not yet expired …

Whether he accepts those or not.. he will be here next year I reckon

It’s not even a secret that Benji and the entire Wests Tigers operation ideally wants Jahream to stay.
So far this season Jahream has looked very happy and giving 💯 in each game he has played, despite his overall form being inconsistent.
Money is the sticking point and as I keep saying there would be no doubt we have made him a very good offer, so it makes you wonder how much he is expecting us to pay him and how high should we go ?
Everyone has an opinion on him staying or going, what would everyone offer as a low and high offer to retain him for another 3 or 4 years ?
I believe his true value based on his ability is no more than 700k, but taking into consideration team harmony and trying to minimise disruptions I would go as high as 900k.
If he was not happy tn accept 900k I would be saying see you later.

You have an opinion on his value and can stand by that ..

The club has to actually address it if Gus Gould thinks he is worth more

For Luai’s replacement, Cleary would be nice, but hell will freeze over before he ever comes here. If he didn’t want to come here when his old man was here, he ain’t coming here when he isn’t. A realistic target I think is Sam Walker. I’d be very keen.

What do you mean we might not even need a halves replacement.

I think we are half a sniff for Isiah Katao. Benji was his idol. Original western Sydney boy

Neither is coming is my prediction .. they will stick with what they have now in the halves and use the extra money to extend other off contract positions
