Why the hate on Skelton?

So we have:
Makasini
Tavana
Starford Toa

Who have really let us down on defense.
Skelton, yea his game has faults. Still defends better then all of them.

Now Makasini and Tavana will improve. Toa wont. William Craig and Saukuru are untested, but not liking our chances.


Seriously that May, Herbert and Turuva as our center/wing pairings... Maybe AD in that mix who has too let us down in defense.


We punted Jack Bird, and if we punt Skelton. Do we realise how thin our backs will be?
I do not want depth and I am happy to upgrade Skelton. That said I want a first grade worthy backline and the best move.

I do like how Benji is keeping backs as backs, halves as halves and forwards as forwards. I really dislike how he has thrown Makasini and Tavana into the deep end. Far better if they came off the bench and it was a NRL experienced backline.

I also think Skelton is being hard done by at the moment and should be in our starting line up.
He height and size alone helps us as we do not have many tall wingers or centres aside from Makasini who is currently out injured.

Why the hate on Skelton?

Why the fixation? What’s he ever done? He’s played less than 30 games and he’s talked about like he’s an established star. I don’t get it.

This is going to happen more and more with the lack of depth to service 20teams. A borderline first grader not getting game time to be lured away mid season. You just can’t compete with $$. You can’t keep these guys if they want to be elsewhere.

I’ve never heard of him as I don’t follow Union.,

I see he is a forward … Union forwards don’t tend to have the motor to play NRL… only a couple have done it successfully

I like Skelton and believe he is in our best 13 at full strength, yet alone depth. However I think Benji has made it clear (based on team selections so far) that Skelton hasn't got a role in our side this year.
So whilst I don't want him going personally I also don't see much point keeping him around if he won't be used.
As for the rumour in general, I haven't heard anything about Skelton but I have heard Para have approached several clubs about acquiring an outside back before June 30. Didn't hear Tigers/Skelton specifically as part of this however.

Im 40km from Perth City and was looking forward to seeing some NRL regularly. The team won't get out of the bottom 4 ATM. Especially with Meninga coaching. NRL leadership just got too greedy.

I think Gardiner will be doing most of the coaching
