Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Have to agree with @supercoach.

I would imagine that many if not most contracts with ratchet clauses would have a player remain at the same percentage of the cap when there is an increase.

At least that is what I would want to see in a contract that I was signing, making it very hard for a club to gain a great deal of benefit from any cap increases.

It basically mean that all you are ever going to have left over is dollars for lower priced players to fill in the gaps in the roster.

I hate to agree, but you're probably both right. When you put all your eggs in one basket, it hurts when that basket drops.

My concern is that our juniors will be raided. Financially as a club they are our future.

We wont have a team in 2031 lol.....
Terrell will be close to hanging it up at the end of 30. And the next 4 years Taylan and Bula will be in their prime. I think it’s stupid to not stagger contracts, but that’s 2030’s problem. I’d be looking to extend Sam for a year longer to 31. Latu end of 29. Pole looks to be the red headed step son in all of this. I’d be surprised if he stays.

Thats a shock. I thought for sure he would follow Luai. He is the one that brings the players togeather. Pther thing i notice is all these extensions are until 2030. Bula, Turuva and so far both Mays extend till 2030, the same time Benjis contract expires. 🤔

Great news

Re the 9 position, I wonder if the Dolphins would get in the way of a brother/brother coaching scenario if JMK wanted to come and play under his brother.

He would be good coming off the bench for Api, offers versatility and addresses our desperate need for a 9.

If we picked up his contract, he would come off contract at the same time as Api.

In the event there is any legs to the Api to Chiefs a season early rumor, then Haywood can interchange with JMK in 28' and take over the reigns in 29'.
Not a bad idea. JMK is hugely underrated.

Looking at the list, I can only recall a few actually going places post tigers.

Blore stands out, He became pretty solid in the Melbourne system and it was a mistake releasing him. I was wrong to think the swap was a good idea. Stefano, less so.

Brooks, i guess he is doing something at Manly. Foran may get a first grade output from him.

Garner and Liddle have become solid first graders. Kelma Tuilagi/Tommy Talau have had some kind of output too. But nothing we would really miss.

Shawn Blore is probably the only player that has really made me think "wish we kept him". The rest that left, kinda glad they did.
