Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So the club finally relented? I’m not a fan of the concept, but digging their heals in was bizarre. We are the only club who has expressed negativity about it. If it’s because they worry it affects their preparation, no club that has gone over has claimed that. Apart from that, not sure why they were so reluctant.

Telegraph saying that the Tigers are all but locked in as one of the Vegas teams next year ( apparently it’s an away game as well 😳)

Anyone planning to go over for it ? The novelty is gunna wear off soon … maybe the NRL can squeeze 1 more year out of it?

NRL fans will continue to fork out thousands on flights, accommodation, strippers, overpriced grog and food to watch a game on a field ill-suited to rugby league and in a country that couldn't give a .... about any sport they didn't invent.

If only the game was in Bali or Koh Samui; nicer places to visit and much less expensive.

Dogs have apparently pulled their interest in Metcalfe, he wants $1m, I'm fairly certain they have screwed their cap to the point its not possible. Also don't think he is worth $1m, looks like the dragons will pay him that though. I wouldn't mind the Tigers having a crack at getting McInnes for a couple of years..plays above his weight and leads line speed and physicality in defense. Only issue is he will fall off a cliff sooner or later (if not already) and you would think with the passion he shows and the way he plays that the Sharks would want to keep him, the fact they don't is a warning sign.
McInnes for 2 would be a good signing , he is tough , plays at 100% every game and would be a weapon off the bench , Tigers offer 2 years as I think sharks will offer only 1 year , that may sway him our way , be a great leader as well for the up and comers

Wests Tigers multimillion-dollar re-signing spree has continued with the game’s brightest prospect Heamasi Makasini inking a new deal to remain at the club.

It is understood Makasini has re-signed with the club for a further two years rejecting any prospect of returning to rugby union in the short-term.

The multimillion-dollar extension means Makasini will join the likes of high profile players Terrell and Taylan May, Sunia Turuva and Jahream Bula to recommit to the club long-term following the loss of Jarome Luai to PNG.

Makasini was due to hit the open market on November 1 but has now decided his future. The 18-year-old made his NRL debut last year playing in the final match of the regular season while still at school.

He played in the opening six games this year but has been sidelined since round seven after suffering a stress fracture in his foot.

Makasini will miss about two more weeks before he can return to the field and will be a key component in the Tigers’ finals push.

A strong finish to the season will see the outside back in the box-seat to claim the rookie of the year award.

Makasini burst onto the scene during the trials when he was compared to rugby legend Jonah Lomu after a barnstorming try in a pre-season fixture against Penrith where he ran over a handful of players including super star Dylan Edwards.

The Tigers have done well to ensure he was not tempted by a return to rugby with the Newington College graduate confirming he has an interest in the 15-man code. But not just yet. The Tigers have now locked in most of their key talent which was due to be free to speak to rival clubs in 2028.

The Tigers will turn their attention to securing teammates Samuela Fainu and Latu Fainu who are the only high profile players now without deals beyond next season.

The good news keeps on coming first Turuva now Makasini, it really is a mixed emotions with the team at the moment.

Feeling crap straight after the games with recent losses with the horror injury toll but it doesn't last long with the good feeling that the club roster looks secure for years to come, only a few more to go.

Adding the good reports of some of the juniors progressing through the ranks is good to hear, just hope some of them prove to be gems.

Makasini extended ?

Cue further media reports of the Tigers “panicking “ and “paying overs since Luai left “…. Of course if these players were signing elsewhere it would be a “club in crisis”…

Damned if they do…damned if they don’t …

At least the side should be competitive these next 3-4 years …makes a nice change
