Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Watch him play, he is still the most powerful ball runner on the field and when he fires up the opposing centre gears tackling him.
Compare that to the pussycats we generally have playing in the centres for us.

We just signed a center …

Taylan May goes ok … no room for another one

Ok then,
Is he injured now? If not why isn’t he starting. Cause better players in front of him. We are short of centres cause bunji has been backing toa the injury prone player.
But get where u are coming from in a way. I reckon our biggest issue is back up hooker! Connor would have got us in the finals next season, soi needs support. Again bunji backed hope-less, bad option!
Solo needs to be groomed into first grade then we have Makasini, May, Toa. I have no problem with signing averillo but not on the reported big coin! That’s the issue, he just not that good, remember dogs dumped him.
This is a wild take … Averillo got injured and his replacement is playing really good footy. It happens, it’s not that deep bro.

Taylan May and Averillo would be a more than competent NRL centre combination, potentially the best we have had playing for Wests Tigers.
But as you may have noticed, Taylan May is very injury prone and these shoulder injuries can unfortunately keep reoccurring.
In a perfect world we have Makasini as our left winger to also cover left centre if/when May is injured, but if you are watching what I have been watching, Makasini being very young, still looks a fair way off becoming a genuine NRL strike centre. It would be nice to say that will happen soon, but there are no guarantees about that, it could take him another couple of years to become confident enough to start using his size to advantage on a regular basis, he’s a work in progress.
Probably unrealistic due to salary cap restrictions if nothing else, but wouldn’t it be a nice luxury to have all 3 of Taylan May, Jake Averillo and Moses Suli on our books ?

2.7 seems excessive.
Surely he isnt our long term 6... so 675k for a centre is almost what we are paying taylan and whilst he is good, is he taylan may good?

Wouldnt touch suli with a 10 foot pole. He offers nothing. Only way id take him is if dragons paid 80% and we had him as depth for 2026 only

625k per season seems on par with what he could potentially get elsewhere and ok for someone who would be a massive upgrade for us at right centre.
He won’t be used in the halves with us unless we have quite a few injuries, but the added benefit of being a very good back up fullback and a handy goal kicker.

Have we signed Averillo, I haven’t seen it confirmed ?
I like Averillo as a player and will be more than happy if he does officially sign with us.
An experience no player wants - a halftime talking to from Bellamy. Perhaps this is the reason he may be available?

So you think the likes of To’a or Turuva or Makasini are currently better centres than Suli ?
Suli would destroy To’a if opposed to him and Turuva and Makasini are purely wingers at this stage of their careers.

Telegraph said it’s confirmed … no doubt they will play out the cooling off period as the Dolphins want to keep him … but the story is he wants to return to Sydney so they are likely pushing it uphill

I know he wants to return to Sydney, I randomly spoke to a close family member of his about 12 to 18 months back and was told he was looking to return to Sydney even that far back.
Very good signing for us if it gets confirmed.

$675k …If there is no ratchet clause … ill live with it

I don't believe it is any coincidence both players the Dragons want to be rid of have large frames. The game is faster now and while Suli can be damaging when he runs, a more agile centre with greater pace like Averillo best suits our team.

Honestly, I'd take Luciano back if the coin was reasonable.

He may be a bit lazy or whatever, but as bench impact, he'd be great for us in a position we have no depth in. Particularly if it's true we are flicking Seyfarth. I wonder if he could do a job in the middle for impact like Hunt does now?

Suli, not so much unless he was happy to switch over this year to play out the remainder of the season for injury cover.
Old Hal saying “ never go back in love or footballers”.
imho No to Luciano !!!!
