Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Come on V ive been waiting all day for the opposition centers suli destroyed..dont leave us hangin
Starford To’a for one, but that doesn’t count for much.
Anyone who watches games would have noticed Suli when on his game making plenty of impactful ball carries that get his team on the front foot at the very least and he quite often rag dolls his opponents when he gets hold of them.
He had a very strong game as recent as last weekend in their win against the Broncos.
Anyone who honestly believes we have any current centres better than him aside from Taylan May is off their heads.
Anyway as I keep saying we now have Jake Averillo and I am happy with that, so no need to keep talking about Moses Suli.

Yeah, but if Patrick Herbert is back up depth at 29 it's nice to think we have a guy who can catch, pass, run and tackle for not much coin if needed.
I agree.
Patrick Herbert has been ok. He has put in plenty of effort for us and you can’t ask for much more than that.
But he is slow in attack and defence, the player you are referring to looks to have a bit of size, speed and skill.
If he is 27y.o it’s a shame he has not been exposed to this level before now.

Yeah, Capewell has been good but turning 34 mid way through next year.

How long do you want him for because the next contract will be his last and you would think he will be wanting it to be as long as possible.
Holy crap, didn't realise his age.... Id still take him for 2 years, seems like an utter professional and is currently origin calibre...

Thats a good list 👍

Laziness. Fatness. They go hand in hand. Even Tito is partial to it. But I’m not a professional athlete.
That’s literally not true man . There’s 3 body shapes generally . You can be “fat” and be extremely fit if you’re rocking an endomorphic body shape . Basically most islanders . Even Lattrell when he’s fit looks like he could shed some kgs.

I explained that none of us really know what he is actually paid, what the rest of the squad is paid and whether the signing of Averillo would mean Makasini couldn't be afforded in future.

So, not worth worrying about.
There's a number in the media, which I think we all know could easily be wrong but equally has a decent chance of not being miles off the mark. Again, this is a rumours thread: comments along the lines of "if the figure being named in the media is anything like correct, I reckon..." is pretty much exactly what it's for.

We all talk about media reports all the time. Should we sign a guy we've been linked with, is the number of years we're supposedly offering someone in their extension too much, can such and such a player cover fullback? Does a signing's reported contract value seem too much is the same thing.

They are better than what we currently have in our top 17, it’s that plain and simple.
Not saying we should target these 2 ahead of anyone else, but we need to keep improving our playing roster if we want to be playing to win titles, rather than just making up the numbers.
Luciano and Suli will never bring a team within cooee of challenging for titles. They're blokes who drive poor culture and bad habits which results in underperformance

Those are uncommon examples. Did Luai take less money to stay a Panther? Did Api?
Stefano, Galvin, Bateman, Klemmer and Sullivan... thats 5 examples in the last 2 seasons. You cant call that uncommon because it doesnt suit your argument then site 2 marquee signings as the benchmark. You need to take the good with the bad.

My original point being, player transfers are nothing like the property market where the highest bidder always wins.

Whilst money is a factor, its not the be all and end all - otherwise every single off contract player would be off to PNG.

That better not be accurate. Way too much money and far too long for the calibre of signing. Let's hope this isn't the type of deals that have been happening with HBG since luai.

Will drag us back into the hole we were in
You realise that the cap is going up a heap again in the next 12-18 months? If the deal is back ended in line with cap rises then it's not a terrible deal for a definite starting player

I am happy with Averillo but there is absolutely no way we are paying 675k a season before even locking Fainu's up (supposedly need to release players to do so).

It appears the club is trying to throw the media off with false info? Who knows

Averillo is 400-500k max IMO
Kade7 and a couple of other outlets said Badel's report we need to shed players to keep Fainus was BS. That's not to say that those three haven't been told we won't stop them leaving if they find something else

Instead of writing a novel on why we should drop talk about Suli, just give us a few games as a reference where he "destroyed" oppositions to back up your statement.

Either that or just fall on your sword and acknowledge you got it wrong and maybe what you thought he had done was wrong.. buy back some credibility here.. I really do try and give you a chance man but you do yourself no favours.

My POV should be the same as every other Wests Tigers supporters POV.
I assume every fan would like the team to win as many games as possible each season and you can’t do that without good players and good depth.
Yeah. But you're spruiking dressing room cancers who are the two laziest humans in the NRL
