Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

good to see the news about toa and blore come out

starford has interest from super league also, but the manly deal probably only option for nrl, parramatta did sniff but have gone cold

blore would prefer to come back to the tigers, money is the issue , st george happy to match current storm deal , tigers not willing to go that high

the narrative around samuela is silly we have the money, we are just looking to move on some contracts that have not worked out
Whats rhe news on Toa....that hes been tapped?

@Vicious claims the clubs strategy is NOT to invest any time and resources into the juniors or pathways... still waiting for the evidence of this
I can’t help it you missed the video which was shown for all to see.
Time was not mentioned, just money spent.
Whether that strategy has recently changed or not I don’t know, but we recently lost Monson Hopoate to the Bulldogs, so maybe not.

I have no idea, that’s why I am saying comments that funding for these areas being withheld sounds too stupid to be real.
Maybe one of the Podcasts can have another chat with Shaun to try and further clarify this situation.
Shaun has said himself a few times we spend less on our two junior catchments than other clubs spend on their one team.

The club owners of course.
That is what I am saying, if the accusations of them skimping on funding to our junior players, pathways and emerging talent, they would be self sabotaging their own team.
And the results in all grades over recent history speaks exactly to that issue. If the club (Wests Tigers) are saying they need more coin to get the pathways sorted (straight from SM's mouth) and we are getting 0.26% of the profit from a non profit organisation, for a football department that the consitution explicity says you are there to support, there is an issue with ownership.

Take it one step further and note that it is the least investment from any club in the NRL and there is another clear indicator. Finally, when you look at other not for profits that are established along similar lines we are around $3.6-6M annually behind.

The Sharks, for example, pour 20% of their much smaller profits, into the football department and the results are there for all to see.

Our closest in similar structure - the Raiders - invested roughtly double what we did and they only support one level of juniors not two. We need to wake up and smell the roses!
