Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Were the only club that wld contemplate this.
Already skinny on outside backs..and dont need to do any favors
Weve already paid 6/12ths of this years salary..nothing material to be gained by releasing him early
Creates development spots in Cup for others who will be here next year. Luke was behind. May, Turuva, Makasini, Skelton, Herbert, Tavana and To'a for 4 spots. Then Saukuru is still there to get an opportunity. He wasn't required

And as I will say again, it doesn't mean the cap space saved on Luke L will mean another player coming in. It may give us extra $$$ to give towards Samuela Fainu for this season.

NOTE: Luke & Samuela have the same manager (Mario Tartak/Crown).
I don’t really buy that one … this will free up about $50-60k… does Sam really needs that money right now to extend come 2028 for like 800k plus a year ?

So Luke is going to move to New Zealand for a few months to play reserve grade/ a couple of games before going to Perth? Seems odd. there must be something happening behind the scenes.

My best bet would be - We've signed Tupou and a young forward from Warriors.

Wishful thinking - We've signed Lenui at a reduced rate, but had to take Tupou as part of the deal.
For this deal to work, we needed another roster spot/money so we've asked Luke to do us a solid and leave early and he has the potential of winning at premiership at Warriors this year.

Are you saying it definitely cant be another player?
No it can be another player and possibly Junior Tupou according to media rumours. Just saying it doesn't have to be.

Just using the Samuela example to show that if Luke L leaving helped us retain Samuela with some extra $$$ for this year, it's a net positive for me (as we can cover Luke L with Tavana, Saukuru, possibly Dunster) for 2-3 months.

Why does it have to be like for.like $$$ value wise?
Could be someone on a higher scale
I was under the impression we didn't have much to work with...hey if we can fit in a genuine first grader, do you think I'd be against that?

I'm not the accountant at the Tigers and dreams are free. Both true statements no?

Winger Luke Laulilii has played his last game for Wests Tigers, with the young star expected to join the Warriors in coming days.

The Warriors were chasing Laulilii for the past couple of weeks after losing a number of their outside backs to injury over the first 16 rounds of the season.

In a recruitment move expected to be finalised before the June 30 transfer deadline on Tuesday, the Warriors targeted Laulilii as ideal cover for injured backs Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (ACL), Rocco Berry (hamstring) and Alofiana Khan-Pereira (leg).

The move to New Zealand for Laulilli would be for the next three months before joining the Perth Bears as a foundation player in 2027.

Laulilli’s move is subject to a medical which the winger will undergo in the coming days, after being named to play NSW Cup for the Magpies this weekend.

It is understood the Tigers did not want to lose Laulilii early, but they are making moves to free up some cash to continue strengthening their roster for next season and beyond.

The 20-year-old from Campbelltown has been struggling for a regular first grade spot under Tigers coach Benji Marshall.

The 20-year-old has a terrific tryscoring strike-rate having scored 10 tries combined in 11 NRL and NSW Cup appearances this season.

You never see other clubs doing this..tell me when Averillo becomes available?
Sitting where we are on the ladder,we need all options available and hes better than several of those u rank above him..major question marks on all of those except May and tureva being superior
..and if we did,we wld save $100k max on this years cap.Its peanuts
These deals always go one way in benefitting our competitors, but never reciprocated
Unless theres a swap.its simply bad business
Think its a Benji dummy spit about "fit" ..again
