Lawrence had speedMakasini’s defence is already better than Chris Lawrence’s defence was when he was 18.
As others have mentioned he’s one of many of the team playing injured, and once he’s injury free and confident again he won’t look back IMO.
Yep - 18 year old Lawrence would never have been run down.Lawrence had speed
Probably worked against kids his own age.Makas misses all seem relatively similar, he goes for legs tackles and they just slip straight out of his arms....probably due to him not using his shoulder as its shot...its all arms
It's a shame, because he is a real weapon in attack. He's inherently lazy. He's been ok on the wing. He's shocking as a centre as he won't tackle
And size, he'd bust threw smaller centres.Lawrence had speed
Lawrence was an incredible hole runner - not really sure whether Mak knows what he's supposed to be doing out there. Seems asleep/confused/stoned.And size, he'd bust threw smaller centres.
Overwhelmed maybe?Lawrence was an incredible hole runner - not really sure whether Mak knows what he's supposed to be doing out there. Seems asleep/confused/stoned.

He’s quick enough.Lawrence had speed
He's got serious defensive issues - Centre is not an easy position to defend and you can't put that sort of pressure and expectation on an 18 year old kid, who, let's be honest, was playing schoolboy rugby less than 12 months ago. He needs a lot of work....like a lot of work. He is so far behind what people thought from the trials. He was up against reserve graders for the most part and looked good - NSW Cup is his level at this stage in his career.Overwhelmed? He certainly isn't playing like he did against the Panthers mid season.
It’s a long year for an 18 year old who’s had to cover a hard position thru injuries & teams target you physicallyOverwhelmed maybe?
He certainly isn't playing like he did against the Panthers pre season.
His second half in NZL was a highlight. A couple of pre seasons to grow into himself and he’ll be an absolute weapon. Bit of patience required people. He's got serious defensive issues - Centre is not an easy position to defend and you can't put that sort of pressure and expectation on an 18 year old kid, who, let's be honest, was playing schoolboy rugby less than 12 months ago. For all Lawrence’s speed he was a liability in defence and was moved to the wing early in his career. He had shocking hands too.
He worked on it and became a star centre.
Pretty weak writing Makasini off already.
I agree weststigers with his hole running, and in the latter part of his career Lawrence would time his run to perfection at angle running coming onto the ball at max speed close to the try line and often score , it really is something our team needs to do now; not this predictable stuff close to the line in attack!!Lawrence was an incredible hole runner - not really sure whether Mak knows what he's supposed to be doing out there. Yeah mate, not saying he won't get there, but even the greats had a "too early" for first grade age...I think it's too early to elevate him over others that have done an apprenticeship in NSW Cup...he's not good enough yet.His second half in NZL was a highlight. Injuries to May, To’a and Skelton have probably seen him play more than originally planned. I actually think these lessons will help his development.Yeah mate, not saying he won't get there, but even the greats had a "too early" for first grade age...I think it's too early to elevate him over others that have done an apprenticeship in NSW Cup...he's not good enough yet.
