Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Since 2010, the KOE magpies have made the semi finals twice.
Failure starts from the top.
Did you just watch them play ?
Maybe we need to start rethinking that we have no depth and start thinking about the lack of team balance, poor team selections and lack of quality from a few of our most highly paid players.
Lack of team balance which incorporates lack of speed is something that has built oil with our recruitment over the past 12-24 months and should have been indented long before now.

With almost 12 million at his disposal it is very underwhelming to put it nicely.
We have improved our roster ever so slightly and now have no money to improve it.
That does not sound successful to me.
The owners board is made up of:

- singer songwriter
- glazer
- financial planner
- mining
- lawyer
- IT incident manager
- chartered accountant

dont come here with your little man judgement of one of the greatest NRL administrators in the game, when our board has absolutely no experience when it comes to rugby league operations.

If they were in charge of our recruitment or selecting our team, that would be a major concern.
But due to them not knowing the difference between a rugby league ball and a soccer ball, that is the least of our concerns at the moment.

ignoring the failure for 15 years but you want to focus on one win?
should we all just focus on round 2 vs the cowboys then?

you talk out your backside and everyone can see it

you make statements and cant even back them up when asked

im suprised you're not a politician

edit - the magpies have 6 wins after 18 rounds. hardly successful.

they appointed a rookie coach for 5 years didnt they?
back to my question - what do you do at the insurance company? how many board meetings have you been a part of?

You brought uk the failures of our NSW Cup team, not me.
I merely lined out they are currently doing very well, so that has absolutely nothing to do with our NRL team imploding.

they arent doing well though, they have lost more than 50% of their games and sit outside finals contention.
or do the goalposts shift when its the magpies?

We currently have a much better NSW Cup team than clubs such as the Roosters, so it is not the main reason our NRL team has fallen in a hole midway through the season.
The same as it was last season, our highly paid players taking up the majority of our salary cap are clearly inferior to their equivalents at rival NRL clubs.
You may not like hearing it, but it is showing almost every week.
That along with failure to identity a reasonable team and roster balance are the reasons we are imploding into s rubble.

We have less than 50% win rate in koe but because it's the magpies you compare them to the team below them in the competition and tell us how amazing they are

Vicious can you just tell me who was responsible for signing an unrpoven rookie coach for 5 years?

Just a direct answer with who it was.

They aren’t the problem, Richo was. You know the guy, that turned around Panthers, Sharks and South Sydney? He had something like only 20+ years sports administration experience. That guy was the problem and because we let him go, all these board members got to keep their power for the betterment of the football club. Well done HBG, excellent decision. Thank you.

And those in charge before his tenure didn’t have a full salary cap to spend…

This is correct, Luai is one of the worst contracts ever and we are paying nearly double his worth, didn’t Ivan only offer 700k to him? And before anyone says stuff about culture he helped it but then broke it with his selfish move to png Being announced mid year

The whole playing for each other and the coach has shifted significantly from earlier in the season. The effort isn't there at all. Injuries definitely had a huge effect. Luai jumping ship had a bigger effect. Then you can throw in possibilities like Twal and Doueihi being our best players but on half the money of other players. That sort of stuff creates issues.

This is not a happy group anymore and there's some underlying issues that are causing problems.
Not the least is Benji the coach.
Now we have Madden at 5/8 and obviously Doueihi has been given the kicking orders.
Madden too slow at 5/8 and no other 5/8 qualities.
He went well early in the year with his varied kicking game and setting up a deep backline for attacking.
Benji has taken his playing attributes away and turned him into a nothing man.
Latu all over the shop, mastering none. Benji the juggler of positional change, with fingers crossed. No real coaching here.
Our current back rowers cannot break a tackle, make a break or have an off load. Neutral outcome on results.
Benji has no attacking plan for the red zone. Nothing. No ideas that work.
Great with the boys, they love him. Good at interviews etc.
But coaching I have some doubts. My fingers are crossed.
