Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If I was paying for the sign and it's instal . . . I sure as hell wouldn't be listening to my dole bludging brother that hasn't chipped in for anything in years. Absolute bastard. Ungrateful, entitled, useless, money sponging bastard.

And to think someone mentioned agendas a page or so ago.
You just nailed it.

The 90% justifies anything you do to erase Balmain.

Newsflash...there was no money sponging. Wests Ashfield received 40% of the club to pay back the debt.

Now they hold it over our heads.

The sad thing is due to our poor performance the supporter base is turning on our good players like we always do.

Both may boys, samuela, kpp, API and twal should be erased from discussions on not trying or not being good enough those blokes carry the other 24 on our squad.

Terrels work load is still unrealistic for any human on the planet 70-80 a week in the engine room will gas any person period and yet he still turns up and tries his ring out.

Twal been huge this year but also flogged within an inch of his life.

Tiny literally delayed surgery on his shoulder multiple times and was still our best defensive and offensive back.

Douzza is coming into his own and always looks threatening.

Kpp another amazing defensive and offensive player

API is our soul and shouldn't have to be at his age.

How anyone can have a crack at this group is beyond me. They all walk into nearly any squad anywhere.

Everyone else sure shoot away.

Yes we are bad but not every player is bad anyone you throw into this squad is going to look rough
Well said mate. I don’t think they’d read this forum though, it’s the personal attacks online that are not on.

Mate if he stays on as coach, we will continue to flounder at the arse end of the table.
Lovely guy, outstanding player, no clue as a coach.
Move him into head of footy and use him to attract talent and sponsors. We need a proper coach to improve our results.
How are you so sure it's him as coach? I'm not being antagonistic.

I'm asking because we have had so many coaches and in a comp that had 16 teams for much of our time, only 1 coach has made the finals.

Was it really the coach?

Benji can attract players (ie get a half decent roster), but can’t coach at NRL level.

Our other coaches outside of Sheens couldn’t attract players but guys like Cleary, Madge achieved better results with lesser players IMO.

Jason Taylor had the best roster but also couldn’t coach.

We’ve sucked for most of our existence, but IMO it hasn’t always been to do with coaching. This time I think it is.

You're so one eyed in your hate for Richo you can't even see how stupid your comments are.

I'm almost positive it's because he never responded to your emails because you came across as a crackpot.

A CEO will give the coach full reign so they have no excuses if it doesn't succeed.

At that point the CEO can say...mate, we tried it your way. I didn't get in the road. Time to relinquish some control or leave.
Whatever Richos plan was in regards to the coach and control of the squad - HBG decided not to give him enough time to
Follow it through.

Speaking of stupid decisions,
how many people of stature within HBG have been sacked / removed from site in the last 3-5 years by the HBG? And who’s accountable for their removal and initially elevating them to the positions they removed them from.
@Vicious

They don’t even know what they want inside their own organisation. Why should we trust them with ours?

He has had the most accomplished rosters and produced the worst outcomes with them, setting unwanted records along the way.
I think this year yes he's had the best team in years. Wholly or partly of his doing...

But we have also been destroyed by injury and Luai, our captain, is signed by 3 clubs right now.

I agree, however, that the last 4 weeks is concerning that we can't score...

Holistically, I think changing coaches is too simplistic and I think we have bigger issues than our coach.

NOPE! We just blame everything on the coach! Never mind our key player gets POACHED mid-season 2 years running.

It's really tough to keep the team on a clear narrative with all the roster changes happen mid season, for the big teams its tricky, for us its very very very very difficult.

The team was absolutely killing it before injury and roster changes completely changed the atmosphere in the club. Those big roster changes shouldn't happen the way they do. I'd rather Benji stay and learn how to manage those moments better, than just brining in some Anthony Griffin type.

I'm out

We lost 32/0 vs the Bulldogs who we should have made a showing against.

Andrew Webster called us a "practise run" when we vs'd the Warriors last week.

Our side has given up. I have given up. All kudos to the true believers, not knocking you and heck I respect you. Respect to all the fellow posters, this place rocked.
WT fans you rock.

I am signing out of the forum (don't know how long). I won't be back this year and likely for a while.

have fun.
Take a warm jumper Captain Oates.

Maybe they are, but there’s coaches out there like Brad Arthur that have dragged bottom feeding teams from the gutter to the cusp of a premiership.
Through marquee players quitting, boardroom squabbles, salary cap cheating the whole lot.
Zero excuses.

We’re the excuse club, whatever happens - there’s always someone to blame, an easy out.
Anyone blaming Galvin (a 19 yr old kid that no one knew existed 12-18 months before) for last year should hang their head in shame, they really should.
None of the pre planning for last season was done around Galvin, he popped up the off season the year before, and was an addition to the squad we’d signed for these last few years.

Unfortunately we have become a joke of a club/team.We don’t seem to have players that are willing to take the hard hit ups, can’t remember the last time I actually saw one of our players tackle hard enough to worry any team. And our coach seems to be completely lost on how to fix this.very sad what we have become.
We need to go out to the market and buy hard running players that can bend the line, and players willing to actually tackle hard instead just standing there and trying to hold them. Gee our forwards are so soft at the moment.
And signing our so called up and coming players is not the answer
I fell off the chair last night when Temu passed from dummy half to Bula for a first tackle hit up.

I think you are partly answering your own questions.
The hierarchy of people in change of HBG decisions regarding Wests Tigers would appear to have changed many times over the past 15 years, similar to the many changes we have made to our rugby league club staff including coaches, CEO’s and playing rosters.
So effectively the bad decisions that have come from them have come from a whole heap of different people.
So I understand why many supporters think a change to private ownership would instantly solve all our problems, but the reality is it is not that simple and nothing is guaranteed.
Whoever owns or runs the club still needs to put their trust in people to make all the rugby league decisions from the CEO to the coach, recruitment manager, playing roster etc and we have had nobody in these roles who has been successful over the past 15 years.
We are not the only club who regularly gets it all wrong in regards to recruitment and retention as most clubs regularly get plenty wrong in that space.
I am much more interested in how we get out of this mess quickly and hopefully have a genuine top 8 team as quickly as possible without having to go through another total rebuild.
We simply have to be much better and much smarter in retaining and recruiting players who are not already big name stars, but ones who can give us better squad balance, play an important role with depth and competition for NRL positions and hopefully end up with a few emerging diamonds along the way.

thankfully you would hit vegas have fun at casinos see the sights catch some shows and the game is at the END of the trip...
so you can be depressed on the way home

You have it the wrong way around. Do the game early in the trip, then have the fun to forget the game.

For me arrive on the Thursday, tourist things and a show on Friday, game on Saturday, leave Vegas on Sunday for LA, and then visit the Happiest Place on Earth for several days from the Monday through the week (not all days, and will likely throw a Ducks NHL game in as well), leave for home on Sunday. By then the footy will be long forgotten.

For the Wests Tigers to have played finals footy this season whether it's the best roster we have had for a while or not it would mean that they would have to be better than at least two of the current top 10 or so teams fighting it out and man for man can't see how our roster could be considered better than any of them.- and more so with our injuries. We lack speed, physicality and depth and have rarely fielded the same team/spine two weeks in a row.

OK. Sounds like we just need to sign Brad Arthur...so simple.
