Preston runs a good line, however i dont think he is anywhere near as skilled as Samuela already is...nor does he have the ceiling of Samuela. Sam almost singlehandedly won us a few of those tight games earlier in the year.

Thanks champion @pawsandclaws1, I like the way Slater analyses things. Looking from the outside in, his assessment is fair - first our injuries then the 2 pronged Luai concerns: one, leaving for the Chiefs in 18 months, and two, the club then getting him off the books at the end of this year.
Must be hard for a relatively young team to get their heads around, especially when it was based on #teamfirst.
And for us fans - just hollow disappointment.

Jacob Preston is a better player than Samuela Fainu.
Nothing wrong with Samuela and he will only get better, but Jacob Preston is fast becoming the best hole running edge second rower in the NRL.
A player like him is a dream for any half decent playmaker and if Lachie Galvin is good enough to put him through holes, players such as Javon Andrews and Latu Fainu could do it with their eyes closed.

I saw a clip yesterday where they were talking about the Broncos run home and their chances of playing finals. Slater said that all the teams they were playing on the run home were either above or below them…Yeah.

There’s no doubt The Karate Kid knows his football but bloody hell he cops some wraps for some of most obvious comments.
He’s always got an agenda, I don’t trust anything he says. I reckon he’d play a fair game of poker though.

Preston has a few more runs on the board at this point only due to age. imo Samuela has a much higher ceiling with his ball skills, aerial ability & size/strength.

As long as the club continues to look after the Fainu family (including mum & dad), we'll be right. I'm sure amongst all the powerful people at HBG, we can find some good 3rd party backers for Samuela, Latu & Sione to set the family up.
