Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We’re following the Jason Taylor blueprint of more hookers than one of those places.

Api, Brailey, Haywood, Lanyon and possibly Fainu.

We’ll probably still make Api play 80.
Api, starter
Brailey, 14 - back up / lock utility
Haywood - developing, not rushed
Lanyon - developing/ hooker+lock hybrid
Fainu - ideally in the halves

Not a bad plan for mine.

I don't know what I feel about the Brailey signing. There are other positions in the forwards that need filling more urgently. I do however get the utility value of a player of his skill.

If he was signed as a 14 I suppose I'm ok with that, but it may put the younger rakes offside with the club.

I still think the Wests Tigers need an experienced half (not Averillo he's an outside back pure and simple) and another NRL standard centre, prop and second rower to be competitive.

These are the ones we should be having a huge crack at ,we don’t need a hooker in Brailey we got API and Haywood
Haywood isn't ready. Sure he's done well in his minutes in first grade but he needs to work on his defense over the next year. Missed some simple tackles in games in both Flegg and Cup. Brailey for 2 years will help bridge the gap until he is fully developed.

We can’t honestly be signing Brailey. I thought we hit new low last week.
Brailey is a good signing. Perfect bench 14 for where we are at right now... 40 minutes off the bench (20mins at hooker to give Api a break and 20mins at lock for Twal).

The type of unselfish, experienced player we need who is willing to work hard and sacrifice for the team.

Kade 7 - Adam has been told the club sees his future at 13 for the remainder of his contract
- benji told him averillo and andrews will be given priority at 6

Interesting if true, Averillo a possible 6? Is that what it took to get him here?
If that is the case we need a fast centre AND a fast winger as well.
Plus, some grunt in the forward pack. May has turned into a powder puff.
Hope Averillo isnt coming as a 6. Can we just play players where they regularly play instead of being too smart for ourselves and trying to reengineer the wheel. I totally get our halves are young but if we never put them in at 6 and 7 whats the point in a lower grade if we never use them. If we never use them how will we know of theyre upto it or if we need to bring other players in.

Twal has been decent at lock this year but is by no means a long term solution there, we need someone there with more speed, ability to find his front and more ball playing. Whilst Twal has improved on these this year he would be best suited at prop. I hope that’s what Benji is thinking here but who knows!

Yeah i agree. People blow up at the idea of plating Twal in the front row becasue his form has been good wearing 13. Fact is, his game doenst change one bit playing up front. With the speed of the game, front rowers like Twal are very valuable.

Having Brailey at lock would give us another option in attack.

He's a solid player, he was great at the sharks then had some injuries and kinda fell off people's radars I think.

We also need some props, so pushing Twal back to his genuine position helps us in that area too.

Solid recruitment move, for mine.
Still need : 5 players, ideally external.

Brailey plays the big minutes in cup when Haywood plays 14 in 1st grade. Then when it is time for Haywood to have a spell and get more minutes in cup, they swap. Simple. Big upgrade on Hope. I don't think playing lock is the aim but he could fill in if need be

Brailey on a low wage is a significant upgrade on Hope. Hopefully Canberra picking up some of the freight.

Maybe the club are learning that going into seasons with teenagers as the 1st drop is not a good idea. A centre/winger to push Makasini down the depth chart next please.

Those of us talking about footy IQ earlier..

Storm 22 - Bulldogs 30
5 min to go
Storm get a penalty in front.

They tapped it and dropped the ball in the next few tackles.

When really should have taken the 2, which would have made it a 6 point game... a one try game with 5 minutes to go.
