Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Leota … he is in big demand … I’ll be very surprised if we get him

Usual gripe from me … we need to the build the depth … not sign one let one go,,,keep Frizell AND Hunt ..surely they can afford Frizell around $350k
Agreed , every other club seems to be able to sign a new star player to bring to the roster they have already, why do we always seem to have to let someone go at the same time

On the topic of Sameula Fainu.

I’m personally a massive fan of him on and off the field, had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and he’s a very humble polite kid. He’s a big favourite among the dressing room as well you can sense. Not to mention he’s an absolute weapon at only 22, he has Olakatutu written all over him and even potentially with a better ceiling. Future NSW blues player.

I think the fact within the last 48 hours both Hudson Young and Jacob Preston are expected to hit the open market that massively increases our chances of signing Sameula. As much as I love the kid I think other clubs would prefer go for the two future kangaroo edge rowers.

I’ve got a massive feeling Sameula is going to stay, however if he doesn’t. We take a massive step back. Just hoping this gets done, a bit concerned about the hold up.

the wtf boys put it pretty well. with kpp and talyan as the only additions this year we looked great. we get them back next year and trade up on starford for jake we should be better. hopefully. back the bunj
We didn’t look great. We played some good footy and got good results but were far from polished and were far from a good side. I remember commenting at the time I was pleased with the results despite how mediocre we sometimes looked. I was encouraged that winning ugly meant we’d only get better as the season progressed. Couldn’t have been more wrong.
We will improve when our edge players return, but don’t forget there’s a reasonable chance neither of our starting halves this year will be here next year and we will have to rely on kids who are not yet ready in the halves.
The aim next year is to avoid the spoon.

That has been the biggest question in my mind since the Dolphins entered the competition. Also why can Newcastle go from spooners to finalists in one season?
They have great talent scouting, excellent development and their clubs work towards one goal. The Dragons have the same and they will be strong next year. Our club appears not to be able or willing to invest resourcing in these important areas and we are beset by infighting. A new owner may have the capacity and willingness to provide additional resourcing to the areas. Until this is addressed imo we will struggle to lift ourselves from near the bottom of the ladder.

Me too .... oops! Trust No One Fox Mulder News.com

I love this quote -

"Scoops? Nah, just scoops of ice cream," Luai joked.

"I'm staying, don't worry - for life.

"I think when things get hard, people are sort of expecting you to change and I'm not that type of guy. I'm here for the long run and I'm here to change this club around."

The guy is not only an overrated player, but he's also full of it.

Looks as though Farnworth will stay at the Dolphins. I thought we had him. In any case Bostock etc are off contract at the same time which means their cap may be stretched.

To let Sameula walk makes no sense, after getting KPP , we have two great defenders and two get attacking players , our pack is solid, we just need 2-3 backup players , but not kids , hard working mongrel players who have 1-2 years left

Also likely is Sam Walker.

The PNG opportunity is basically holding clubs to ransom. Players can hold off extending with their current club with the threat of big dollars in PNG, forcing current club to either risk playing their bluff or pay 'over's & potentialy ruin their salary cap.

Re. Samuela, I do think he will stay and probably likely already agreed in principle (as extended family is so much to them and would be so hard to move away at a young age).

Yes PNG has lured some good players but most are closer to 30 than 20 with wives/girlfriends & some kids.
I actually think Samuela and Latu will go to the Roosters, who are releasing 6 ex SOO players over next 15 months..Tedecso,Lenui,Crighton,DCE,,Watson and Tupou...thats almost $4mill worth of cap (to normal teams)
Targeting Samuela to replace Croghton is exactly what they need, and theres a gap in the halves for Latu who has been poorly managed by us...Robbo will promise more
Farnworth to be recruited for Fullback
...and they will still have $$ left to top up Sam and others
..and thats without cheating!!
..well,someone has to take over the incumbents Mustang leases.... and el cheao rents in Bondi!!
...

Its about the size of the premium we have to pay over the market to lose most weeks
