Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Who would people move if we did go after Liam Martin? Sam back to middle? KPP to lock?

Personally I don’t think he’s in a position we need but he’s definitely the type of aggressive player we need

Could be worth thinking about Liam Martin as a middle by then much like how a Tyson Frizell has transitioned to the middle in the latter part of his career. Typically middles earn more $$$ and he'd be the type of hitman, fast line speed, all effort guy who could complement Terrell & Pole really well. Food for thought.

Gus only ever goes to clubs that have a big junior catchment, lots of money or preferably both. Which makes the odds of him coming to the tigers very remote.
He agreed to come, pretty sure it was 2013 or 2014 to take over the running of the football operations. At the time our boardroom was made up of Balmain, HBG and Wests Campbelltown. Was right around the time we punted Sheens the first time. Maybe 6 - 12 months later or so. Gould said he would come on one condition, his only condition was his salary had to be $1 more than our highest paid player at the time. The board refused.

Martin's been a great player but I believe his career has taken a physical toll on him. He plays the game very hard and he is not the largest forward.

It already is 12 mil . It will grow to 15 in 28 , with 21 by the end of the new tv deal and 20 teams , 5 year deal I believe . So with pretty much a 200% cap jump by the end of the tv deal , you can expect most big average second rowers to be be on close to 800k , with elite being well into the middle 1s. Elite halves and fullbacks will be on probably 2- 2.5 mil .

At $1million a season though its a massive gamble if he doesnt make the transition we potentially have him and Samuela on near $2 milliin in cap gone. Who do we punt to accomidate him if he cant go to prop and needs to go back into the 2nd row.

Can Martin play middle? I thought he did for a bit at origin and sometimes for Penrith

Has Samuela done enough be considered in the group of players I’ve categorised him in valued currently at 800k, or is he more suited to the group of players I valued at 700k?
Of course a ratchet would need to be implemented as the Salary Cap increases above 12 million.

The Alex Ferguson move.
